>I've done it Marty, I've finally done it!
You figured out how to create a time-traveling DeLorean?
>No, I've figured out something even more incredible Marty! Look at these figures! The numbers Marty! They prove that God is not real! He's a myth, Marty! A band-aid! Throw your Bible in the trash, Marty!
G-gee, Doc. Shouldn't we be worried about the Libyans?
>No Marty! They'll leave us alone. I gave them your mother. She will finally be satisfied, Marty!
Oh, thank God!
>There is no God, Marty!
I'm glad they changed Dan Harmon's original script, because this was a mess.
>Or witness the birth of Christ!
What did Doc mean by this?
>Oh, thank God!
>There is no God, Marty!

He's a Christian, just like many real life scientists were. And/or he was being silly because he knows it's not literally the year 0 when Jesus was born (if he existed at all).
True story behind it: It was a joke by either Bob Gale or Bob Zemeckis (I forgot who), Zemeckis was a Christian. People making the movie (and later the viewers) took it seriously or ignored it but it was meant to be a joke because it's a well known fact that if Jesus did exist he was not literally born in the year 0.

yfw when Rick and Morty relationship was heavely inspired by BTTF.
>>82078278
>heavely inspired
it literally started as a parody of BttF
>>82078348
And as we all know, a parody would in fact be heavily inspired by the source material. Well done, /tv/, just like the ideal method of cooking a steak.
