I really don't think I'd use the word "drone" there. Autist maybe.
But a "drone" gobbles it up and asks for more, no matter what. A drone is mindless and obedient. A drone doesn't complain that their Marvel product wasn't good enough, they say thankyou and politely open their mouth for more.

It isn't drone-like for a Marvelfag to bitch that their Marvel movie was shit. I'd argue that's quite the opposite of drone-like.

>I've seen a lot of people say it's pointless because it doesn't add to the universe or something but seriously who cares about that.

But it is the complete opposite. A significant chunk of the movie is just information dumping to explain power levels and celestials. Those huge doses of exposition where Kurt Russell is explaining everything about the movie and half the universe. Then you have huge story parts designed only to push sequels and other shit like Adam Warlock, Original GotG (Stallone & Co.).
The pacing was fucked because the last act ends up merging with the 2nd so it drags on, then they follow it with the adverts for future movies.

I did like the use of colour in the movie though, the first movie ends up being very purple but this one actually had some nice usage. The red scene between Nebula and Gamora. I also think they fucked up by killing off Ego and Yondu, sure the Father arc was nice but it ruined two good characters and essentially gimped Peter Quill.

Half this movie seemed like a setup for the audience to understand that all the characters are replaceable. With the entire cast of this movie replaceable with Stallone and Co.
>>

Marvel has factory-lined out better than a dozen movies without managing to get a single award in any of the categories that are usually gimme's for sci-fi/fantasy action. One of those categories is, say it with me, makeup.

They're approaching their universe like what sci-fi/fantasy normally does - like it's pre-existent. Marvel jettisoned a lot in the early stages for mass appeal, and now they're trying to retcon it back in.

Think I'm kidding? Try to imagine a scenario where Sorcerers like the Ancient One, who by their own words are guarding against extradimensional incursions, aren't at all interested in the Jotunn/Asgardian incursion that left behind one of the most powerful objects in all existence, you know - like the one they're guarding already?

They clearly wanted to do a dark universe but they fucked up the moment they hired Snyder because he is a hack. He flooded their entire universe with shit and now it is essentially untouchable.

Any smart director and actor would avoid DC like the plague. Mainly due to the variety that Marvel is offering, give it a couple years and there will be a gritty style Marvel movie that DC wish they established, we saw the foundations with Logan and that the market exists with Deadpool.

See, this is biased. This is looking to be overly critical and a dick about something and thinking of the fucking company that produced it and their ulterior motives instead of genuinely enjoying a movie for what it is; which critics can't do because they're subhuman dicks and just need to grab onto something to be an asshole about because they don't know how to have fun. No they weren't. They were giving us a world where myth and magic had gone to sleep. I have a good feeling that Wonder Woman's film is going to start answering why it happened, and that it's going to continue on over into Justice League.

Nolan gave a "grounded, realistic " world. Snyder gave us a world that seemed similar to it and is slowly revealing it has a secret history, sort of like the comic book "Planetary,"

Avatar, Star Wars and Marvel will soon be collected into the same universe. The tree is the nucleus holding them together. Think of it as an Aleph.

Anyone else going to dread the virtue signalling when Stan dies? Just imagine, people who have never picked up a comic book by him will be doing reaction views expressing their phony grief.

You shut your whore mouth. Cap 1 is fantastic.

It's upbeat and hopeful without being quippy, it had a complete story with good characters, and probably the best musical score of any of the MCU movies.

Joe Johnston gave us exactly what we needed for Cap's origin story.

I agree that the writing was lacking but I was more impressed with it in other respects.
The music was great (if a little too reminiscent of Star Trek, which was obviously the same guy) the sound was awesome, the visual effects were great. I liked everyone's performance except for Cumberbatch's accent.
I thought they pulled back the snappy dialogue enough to not be quite as irritating as other MCU films while still keeping it in line with their tone.
And I know we've memed the hell out of it but I unironically enjoyed the Dormammu-I've-come-to-bargain scene.

They reference it, too.
At one point in this film Mantis says "it's so cute it makes me want to die", which is near-verbatim a line out of the first Despicable Me.
It's like Gunn was told he had to have Baby Groot as a minion so he put a little fuck-you in the script to acknowledge it.
Either that or it's his way of telling the audience that they'll take whatever the fuck he gives them and like it.

In the comics Earth is special for a number of reasons.

First, it has an abnormal number of super-powered beings on account of genetic manipulation by celestials millenia ago.

Second, humans suck at space travel, so all those powerful beings stay on earth.

Third, there's like, magic and multiverse crap that seems to converge on earth for, you know, reasons.

They want to make more money, and can't really just do more of the same, since that would just end up getting boring after a while.
