1. Green house gases, in particular CO2, decrease the amount of infared radiation that can escape from the troposphere.

2. This in turn warms the atmosphere below, which allows for more water vapor in the air.

3. This increased water vapor reflects/absorbs even more infrared, accelerating the process.

4. My personal addition is fuck only looking at reducing emissions. The damage is already up there, and India is going to buy cars. Figure out how to get the CO2 back down and out.

The science is the pretty straight forward. The Earth has been warming since the end of the last ice age in the Holocene. Humans have introduced an excess amount of CO2 into the atmosphere thus accelerating the warming trend. You can see this in the instrumental data.
But keep calling me a shill if it makes you feel better. I'm an actual scientist in the field.
