I've done this in undergrad, not so much in graduate school. I've done an entire semester worth of work in one weekend because I forgot to go to a computer science class and forgot to drop it, so I had to do all the work in a weekend.

Luckily there were no due dates, you just finished at your own pace. It was a weird class.
