What does tv think about Michael Mann?
What's your favorite or least favorite of his movies?
I haven't seen blackhat yet, not sure if I want to

Before digital, a great stylist, though never a great auteur. After digital, a fucking mess. Ten years after he started trying to push it singlehandedly, his pure digital aesthetic still looks like aaassss.

He has reasons for why he does it, I believe with Miami vice where he dis a significant amount in digital he used the cameras to capture the scenery and clouds at night. Parts of the movie look cheapish, who knows if that's what he was going for exactly

His reason is that he has no taste. I saw that movie, it looked like ass at rhose points. He captured nothing. The digital parts look like SOV shit, because that's what they are. He thinks that if he does it persistently enough, people will eventually think it looks good. No, they won't, Michael, and that's why you're washed up.

i loved Collateral and the way he used digital to capture different facets of the night in L.A.
i guess it's just a matter of taste.
I didn't see Miami Vice and Public Enemies yet. Blackhat was fantastic imo, a great pleb filter, although i admit that the animated "hacking scenes" were ridiculous...
Heat>Last of the Mohicans>Collateral>Public Enemies>everything else
