Often I take what I like to call "preemptive breaks" from films I know I'm supposed to see and like and just kinda skip the viewing process entirely for films I know I'd just end up dragging out for several days
I'll read the plot on wikipedia, glance through a few reviews and start posting
I'm still a filmbuff, but I guess I'm just. . . a new breed of filmbuff if that makes sense haha

it helps to be in a cinema, where the potential distractions are minimized. Usually when I watch a movie at home I am browsing tv in one tab. Especially during action scenes. Action scenes are so boring and annoying. Typically I find human dramas engrossing enough to sit through.

I don't think it is bad that you take a break. It can help refresh your attention in the movie. That is just how humans are. It's not like people read books all the way through in one sitting. I think it means you don't care or shouldn't care about the movie if you find yourself not wanting to return to it after a break
