I'm wondering how many people's perception of the film have been affected by The Last of Us. Joel and Ellie's relationship was true kino and I was pretty disappointed that Logan never really got to those heights.

They went for the R rating with the raw violence but it still has that hollywood stain of a simplistic story that tries to cram too much in. Feels like a lost opportunity. Still had kino scenes though, the two best being X's monologue in bed and Logan choking up after burying X.

I just wanted more though. That's why I feel like it's a lost opportunity. The setup is so awesome that I can easily imagine it going for two films at the least (maybe even a trilogy). Up the stakes and make it all about Logan and Laura with X in the mix. A story that starts about escaping, then turning into survival and ending as redemption.

Killing X and Logan in the same film just doesn't sit well with me, and is the main reason I think they were trying to cram too much in. But I'm left wondering about the possibilities because I obviously enjoyed the film. I just wish it could have been so much more.
