My French teacher lent me her copy of Jean de Florette so I could watch with subtitles.
I loved the fuck out of it and searched everywhere for Manon des Sources with subtitles, but ended up just watching it with my shit-tier level French.
Didn't seem nearly as good as the first so I didn't pursue it later, though I could get way more out of it now.

But holy fuck Jean de Florette [and various displays of based tastes] kind of made me fall in love with my teacher.
