I literally watched it two days ago and still think it's one of the best shit ever. I know the hype is high, but try to give it a fir chance. It has not much to do with his other works, has a different tone and pace, but the style is there

Magnolia > PDL > The Master > TWBB > Boogie Nights > Inherent Vice > Hard Eight
Inherent Vice was good but it didn't really do anything for me. Hard Eight was good for a debut but not much more, very clear he's still trying to find his mojo there. Boogie Nights and above are all excellent though.

Synecdoche NY > Adaptation > Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind > Anomalisa > Being John Malkovich > Confessions of a Dangerous Mind > Human Nature
>>81370729
Mostly agree, think the delivery of Spotless Mind was > adaptation but the writing wasn't.
>>81370759
Yeah I can agree on that. And purely writing BJM is probably better than Anomalisa, but Anomalisa was such a unique experience with all it had going on that I have to place it slightly above it in this list.
>>81370729
>Adaptation that high
>>81371018
I actually had to read the "source" material in a writing class and then we watched the film.

>>81361809
I'd swap ITMOM w/ Prince of Darkness DESU, otherwise perfect
>>81371146
Prince of Darkness is one of his masterpieces, it's just not the strongest script. ITMOM was kind of a clusterfuck. I'd stick Precinct 13 up there with PoD though.
>>81371208
I love both, I just feel the performances were better in Madness, and the overall atmosphere was more consistent.
>>81362450
Can you explain why you didn't like Basterds? That opening scene is incredible, and I thought the rest of the movie was passable at its worst. What threw you off?
>>81371249
Well Sam Neill is pretty fantastic generally, PoD was more of a 'hard' sci fi horror attempt. The implications are the real scare factor, less so on the spooks. Carpenter really does manage that well it's just... kind of silly when you take an objective look at it. Can't fault the direction for the stupid script (also him). Hard to judge Carpenter on any single feature of his films since he's usually a one man show.
>>81371018
Post your list then, jabroni
>>81371360
Yeah. As I said, I love both, just Madness has stuck with me more. I feel that it probably has to do with the pacing. Right when it feels things are starting to happen in Prince of Darkness, it just kinda stops, whereas Madness just never stops once it starts. I guess it just comes down to what type of movie you prefer. One that focuses on one character and his descent into madness, or more of a focus on the world and events
>>81366144
>Maybe getting Kids today.
I know you're a teenager so I'll give you a pass, but Kids is by far the most noteworthy film he's been involved in.

Huh.

thanks for the insight, pleb.
>>81371644
Kids was a landmark film, maybe if you were old enough to remember the impact it made upon its release you would understand.
>>81371706
everything Korine has directed is better, if you weren't such a pleb you would understand.
>>81371740
Care to explain the shit you're saying?
>>81371783
he didn't direct kids. Every (other) movie he's ever made is better than kids
>>81360604
fucking jesus so wrong
Tarantino really does have a complete pleb fanbase and you can tell easily by how nobody has Jackie Brown at 1st or 2nd
>>81360781
this offends me even more, Goodfellas is so fucking far above everything but Raging Bull and Taxi Driver
>>81371844
I know he didn't direct it but he wrote the plot, and was heavily involved in the production and was even cast in the film as the guy Jennie meets in the nightclub, but what I'm saying is that the film brought up a lot of issues that were going on at the time in American cities with teenagers and it was incredibly true to life. A lot of the people thought it was a documentary when they saw it for the first time cos it seemed so real. Nothing Korine has directed has been so emphatic. Spring Breakers was a great film but it won't go down as a classic like Kids.
