What are some good insect horror kino and how come they're not making them anymore?

Mimic? Is that the name? It's about cockroaches and stars Mira Sorvino. It's got a shitty IMDB score but it was directed by del Toro and has a dark gritty vibe about it. I think it's kino
Arachnophobia
Naked Lunch
Mimic. If the studio had let Del Toro do it his way it would have been even better with the wall-of-fuck scene and the downer ending. The only good thing the studio did for the movie was to make them cockroaches instead of beetles as Del Toro had originally planned. One of the major reasons why the movie works is because of our disgust for roaches.

Spiders are arachnids, not insects.

the mist is bretty gud tier, could have been a masterpiece with a little more budget and slightly more care taken to not fall into the steven king schlock zone.
supporting cast and dialogue seems like an old made for tv movie. also, aliums are too angry. the idea was that an entire ecosystem leaked in, so more of the "attacks" should have been in response to humans poking things, or the result of slow, cautious investigation by the aliums. like, they take a small bite to see if humans are prey, then go for another, not just chimp out and start berserking immediately on seeing a human. ending makes it all okay. 10/10 would gape in awe again.
