It was supposed to be the relaunch of Trek on TV.

They even got a proper writer who was a genuine fan of the show to pen episodes and he in turn promised to stay within the bounds of established story and keep fuckery to a minimum.

Then studio meddling starts.
It needs more diversity.
It needs more "punch".
Let's fire the guy we got to write this, we need someone in touch with modern audiences.
Let's change the design of established races instead of creating something new.
Let's introduce more timeline fuckery, even though we said this wasn't Nu-Trek and was supposed to be inside the universe of Trek.
It's now going to be a vehicle to promote their streaming service.
