Michael Scott
>paragon of the Peter Principal
>complex character who makes you feel for him
David Brent
>useless
>just an asshole
Why does anyone think the UK version is better?
>>81242304
I like the British one because it feels more realistic. The American one started out feeling like that, but ended up doing le quirky bullshit that would never actually happen.
British versions are always superior. American "humour" is garbage
>>81242304
You forget that Michael Scott started out just like David Brent and only became a lovable fool later on.
>>81242422
>later on
>episode 7/201
Yeah, 3% of the show is pretty much nothing.
This is the only character that was improved upon in the US version. They give pretty much the same monologue about watching that tv rerun word for word but Brian did such a better job than the UK guy.

What you reading?

This.
On represents real life in an office in Britain.
The other is pretty much an American sitcom.I haven't seen a single episode of either.
>America
>Everyone is great and happy and it all works out in the end
>UK
>It's easy to waste your life and even good decisions are hard to make
US Office is for normies. UK Office is for abnormies. Which are you, OP?
>I love shows with mumbled performances and no production value
Yeah, ain't British television grand? Totally worth the mandatory TV license tax.
british pam is a blimp now
>>81243324
American Pam is a few seasons past her expiration too
Is British Dwight played by the kid who shot up that church in South Carolina?
>>81242304
because useless assholes are funnier than "le well meaning guy just looking for love"
>>81243324
Jesus Christ. At least Jenna only lost it mentally.
>implying American Office had anything as funny as this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6Eaz-1_3iA
british pam ate the rest of the office

David Brent was way more complex than Michael Scott. If you watched the whole series and didn't feel for him at times, you have no soul
>>81243053
Kek
>>81243488
>Irish Child
>British
Really?
>that episode that opens with them lip syncing some bullshit song
American Office may as well have been a cartoon after a while. Same with Parks and Rec.
>hey everybody let's have a BBQ contest in the middle of a work day
Lazy ass writing.
>>81243635
First three seasons of American Office were good I thought. After that, it went downhill, but it still had its moments. I think the writers resorted to gags like that one for two reasons though:
1) They were running out of ideas and love triangles to fill the plots
2)They noticed that "viral videos" were a thing on the internet that people cared about and thought it would be cool to do some of those too, and to be fair, lots of business offices did do things like that to boost morale for employees during the late 2000's and early 2010's. It's super cringey now, and it felt awkward in a TV show then, but it made some sense.

Nice ameila earhart haircut you dumb bitch hahaha
Like it or not, the will-they-won't-they of seasons 1-3 gave the show drive. Michael and Holly was the closest the show came to capturing the emotion it used to inspire. For me, 1-3 was about people in an office, while 4 onward was a wacky skit-show that took place in an office.
>>81243796
this
>>81243635
>>hey everybody let's have a BBQ contest in the middle of a work day
What episode was that?
>>81243959
this is true as well
>>81243959
>>81244087
wait except for the Michael Holly thing. Holly was annoying. Not funny, just weird
>>81244105
That storyline was so forced and idiotic.
"muh one troo love"except for all of my other one true loves and her getting with Rob Hubel
>>81242340
thats why the american version is better. whats funny about a real life office building?
>>81243469
>making his tits shake
>he starts grunting
every time
