It comes off as silly for a show that was once given high praise for its writing.

And the truth is that no one takes Alex Jones seriously, no matter where you land on the political compass. The writers seem to be suggesting that the "alternative media" is (or would have been complicit had Hillary been elected) in staging an internet assault to de-legitimize her bid for presidency by uploading youtube videos and saying nasty things about her on the internet via a million sockpuppet accounts (aka muh gamertate, muh russian bots) with the help of some government intelligence agency. Hell they even mentioned 4chan by name on the show a few episodes ago to drive the point home. He has a special attachment / relationship to Quinn as he brought him into the agency and had him trained. It was also heavily implied that Dar may have raped Quinn, and that he loves him or something. When he called the hitman, he was asking what the fuck he was doing going after Quinn as it wasn't part of the plan. He was pissed because clearly the alex jones controlled opposition dude ordered the hit on Quinn, and is not going to frame Quinn for the false flag operation they have planned on the president.

This is the only reason why Dar Adal turned, he wants to protect / save Quinn. I can't see his character surviving the season either, I think he's going to somehow sacrifice himself to save Quinn or something like that.
