When a film features a baby being crushed in a mortar and pestle for witch potions and the scene ends up being neither scary, disgusting or emotionally moving, it's a shit film.
The film consistently bungled all of it's important scenes, especially the ending, but since it ticks enough boxes to be considered 'cerebral' and 'not for the common man' pretentious idiots just can't get enough of the emperor's new swag.

Try reading retard. The scene failed in every aspect, it wasn't scary, disgusting or disturbing in any way. The film failed to build any sort of emotional connection to the baby, so it ended up being a completely flat, ineffectual scene.
With how poorly that entire sub-plot was handled, it would have been more effective to have not shown what happened to the baby at all and just have it vanish.

What is the truth? The truth is what you want it to be. Watch them, decide for yourself. While these films are for the most part good, what really pisses people off is when they post "these films are one of the greatest horror films ever". That's makes these threads fucking pathetic. It follows, one of greatest horror ever? It's sad.

Liking a film, and saying "it's one of the greatest horror films ever" are two entirely different things.
