>"The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" is an upcoming film directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam and Tony Grisoni, loosely based on the novel "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes
>It is widely recognized as one of the most infamous examples of development hell in film history, with Gilliam unsuccessfully attempting to make the film a total of eight times over the span of nineteen years
>in March 2017, it was reported that the film had finally started filming for the first time in 17 years, with Jonathan Pryce as Quixote, and Driver still attached as Grisoni
I'm psyched for this. Major studios are finally looking to independent and fringe directors for new ideas.

Never heard of him.

Oh cool, another pretentious film people will pretend to like
>>
I would watch a Don Quixote film, love that story.

Monty Python were the original leftycuck comedians. They've been like that since the 60s

Brazil is the only film of his I would consider remotely pretentious, and it doesn't at all fit the stereotype of a pretentious film.

wtf are you talking about? Almost all of his films have been distributed by a major studio. Even still, I'm pretty sure this one is being distributed by Amazon, which is hardly a "major studio."

No
I want to know where the fuck Tideland came from
That is legitimately an awful movie and on the DVD he practically apologizes for it before it starts
>>
>>81140674
None of his movies have been distributed by a major studio since Fear and Loathing. That's 20 years. Except MGM distributed The Brothers Grimm, but nobody gives a shit about that, least of all Gilliam fans. My point is, Hollywood is looking to independent directors to direct their big genre pictures now. Duncan Jones, Gareth Edwards, Jotdan Vogt-Roberts. Hell, every big horror movie coming out the next two years is being directed by someone who just got their chance to direct their first picture.
>>
Would it use the musical score? This looks like a good idea. If he pulls it off, it can generate enough interest to signal a revival of the long dead adventure genre.
>>
This could be great, here's hoping it is
