Showed Jesus not to be this God in human form, but a regular guy, practicing his craft of Carpentry and helping his mom.

Gibson in this scene made Gad relatable.

Tables weren't as common back then in any culture. Jesus is building a table for a Roman. Romans made more frequent use of the table than other civilizations, and specifically for eating while their contemporaries would rather use the table for work and writing. The Jews were used to sitting on carpets or beds while eating, hence Mary's reaction
