Maybe marginally, sure, but I've always thought of the adamantium being a bonus to indestructibility moreso than killing potential. And honestly, based off of her acrobatic skills she's plenty lethal as is and probably moreso than wolverine was back in the day with his bone claws.

So again I really don't think it was worth it for them to put the adamantium claws on her so early. Adherence to the comics I can respect but it doesn't make it less silly to me.

It was okay, not the greatest thing ever.

I like it as a finale for two actors in their roles. They took things a little more tot he logical extreme, Logan's trying his best to be a loaner and keep away from shit, but gets involved anyway.

Making Charles old and decrepit was an odd choice, but if he was whole the movie would be cake walk in terms of combat.

This winds up having me FAR more interested in what the fuck happened to reach this point.

The world constructed leaves massive holes they need to fill. I care less about them dying, than the world they inhabit (because it's not the first time for the characters, but we won't see these actors again) so much of the emotion is lost.

I just want to know how all this went down and what the fuck happened between DofP waking up scene 2000? (everyone's alive) and the fragment of weapon X during apoc.

It feels too manufactured, this is the finale and the new kids they got for Apoc/DofP are what we'll have for 10~ years to fill in the gaps.

I thought Xavier's death was handled well. Logan is hit fully by it when their vehicle gets fucked and he snaps (the people in my theatre laughed which was odd because it's such a heavy scene) and I thought that was a picture perfect representation of despair. Unable to do absolutely anything about the 100% uphill struggle he's been dragged through the movie.

Not 100% sure why Logan couldn't out-regen the Adamantium poisoning considering he shielded some dude from a nuclear fucking bomb AND regenerated faster than he was being disintegrated by that girl in x2 (forget her name)

The writing in this movie was very impressive for a super hero movie, and I'm pretty sure that's what Mangold meant with this line in particular. He was pretty thoughtful when it came to the script, and even his use of outside material fit the tone he was going for. My only gripe with the movie (besides none of the kids being killed at end, but it's reasonable avoiding NC-17 rating) was that they didn't develop the Grim Reavers motives more. I wish he had made the logic behind their actions more of a grey area, allowing Rice to be the "defacto" bad guy from the shadows (however, his logic also could have made him not a "bad" guy). Basically, the bad guys somewhat betrayed logic of film, which was there aren't really bad guys, just people placed into bad situations.

All the way down it was written as a tragedy, with a lot of it following Joseph Campbell archetypical behavior, which I found rather interesting, because most superhero movies have very shallow themes/developments, with very unrealistic stakes being involved. The movie was very effective as a redemption story, but tragic, because the hero never gets to capitalize on his return from the depths of hell and the new found knowledge he has gained. Part of me wonders if the "don't be what they made you..." line will end up setting Laura up for a lot of mental gymnastics, because now she will be reluctant to fight for/defend herself, and could set her up to be taken advantage of and abused.

Most criticisms of the movie can be defended/debated well, with most gripes coming down to the kids at the end, and the way a lot of things seemed rush. For me, I find a lot of context in the movie can developed just by thinking about the setting/situation (requires a second watch), and most of my gripes the first time around were gone the second time. Unfortunate that there wasn't a previous film showing the downfall. I noticed a lot of people don't want to think about it, and wanted it to be self-contained.

Maybe the movie should have had Laura and the nurse the main character at the start, showing us what was happening inside that building/hospital, and then having them escape and find Wolverine.
It would have cemented the fact that while some of the X-men are still alive, they're on the run, hiding, defeated, and finding them is hard.

It might have been better if Mangold went with his initial intentions, and just removed the explicit recollection from Gabriella (he didn't want film to be preachy), and had it just be the footage of the children being mistreated, and allowed for the viewers to come to their own conclusions (though, if you look, people are confused about the simplest shit with the movie). Gabriella could have simply told Logan at the end that this girl is his biological daughter, and she was made to be a weapon just like him. Even better, have Laura wake up during video, and watch it with Logan, having her explain what it was like.

Well said, I think you're right, the transitions would have to be switched up a bit at beginning, but it would have worked a lot better.

It also would have helped establish that Logan was reluctant to kill people, which the Mexican killing scene completely obliterated in the first minute of the movie. I was somewhat 50/50 on whether Logan was truly reluctant to fight/kill, because he was just old, or if it was a personal decision.
