How come this was never posted here?
It's pretty good, some great performances given, particularly the musician son and denzel's most commanding performance since Training dayI teared up when they sang about blue at the end
It Was a bit lengthy, but the writing was pretty great, although laid on a bit thick at times and some of the metaphors repetitive
One if the best mainstream films of 2016 at least
You've convinced me to give it a go OP

It's quite conservative
Because Denzel literally made this movie in an attempt to show how he's a better actor than James Earl Jones who did the same thing thirty years ago but far, far better.
He's just salty.

I knew about the James earl Jones adaptation, but it's pretty good too?
What makes you think that was denzels intention?

Because Denzel is an egotistical dickhead. Watch the two videos I posted, Denzel turned the movie into a vanity project in order to try and make it seem like he's a good actor.
He doesn't even rank.

denzel is a better actor than james earl, he has nothing to prove. and denzel had already done fences before so your point is moot. the movie is clearly something near and dear to him and something he's wanted to do for a long time. also he should have won an oscar for Flight.

I dunno anon, I'd say denzel seems more natural, especially in the movie
Denzels character is such a fucking prick in this movie
whats worse is Denzel played him like this is some sort of fucking hero
its an oscar bait tier movie

>all that laughing in the 2nd clip
Is this scene supposed to be funny?

I really liked it too but it was, at times, hard to watch for me since my father was a lot like that man.

saddest comment I've seen tonight. the way you phrased it was beautifully sad, lad.
