>I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?
>>
No, I dont even have friends anymore.
>>
i just assumed everyone was friends with everyone back then just because we shared a classrom together
>>
>>81004051

I do, because I've stood by them, and they have stood by me, also only 2 of the kids stay friends in this movie.
>>
>>81004051
once you fuck a girl in the ass and then help her clean the sheets after she shits the bed because all of that mdma you did earlier in the night got her intestines sensitive and made her bowel all twitchy causing her to shit after 20 minutes of relentless ass pounding, you have formed an unbreakable bond. even if she never returns any of your calls
>>
>>81004180

Yea, then you grow up and get people you actually get along with. When things were simpler it didn't matter though.
>>
>>81004051
I did.
>>
This line is 100% percent true, at least for me. Always hits me right in the feels when I watch stand by me.
>>
>>81004051
Who are you quoting?

>>
i didnt have any friends when i was twelve,
>>

You have to be 18 to post here dude.
>>
>>81004218
I had this happen except she didn't help me clean the sheets
>>
>>81004051
I live in Japan and this is easily one of the most popular movies here. Like a lot of schools gather all the children in the gym every year and watch it together. Just a fun fact for y'all
>>
No I lost all my friends at the 14~15 year old range and never made new ones
>>
>>81004051

3-4 friend groups are awesome but they never happened much because it's hard to get four that get along. past grade school i never even had four friends that wanted to hang out together
>>
This movie gets me so hard in the feels every time.
Getting old really does suck.
>>
It is impossible, when you are 12 having fun with your friends is pretty much the only thing that matters, so the friendship is purest there will be.

As you grow up you start caring about girls, going to college, starting a career, earning money, buying a house. Many of your friends will be just people with common interest, or busines contacts, many times you don't even know if they are real friends or just colleagues, and wonder if you would still talk with each other even if you decided to do something else with your life. The pure, uninterested and undoubted friendship is over
>>
>having more than 1 friend at a time.
reeeee
>>
>>81005921

Only if you're a failure in life.
>>
>>81007034

How many mental gymnastics did you have to do to convince yourself getting old is anything but horrible suffering?

Only because most people are total shitheads who dump all their friends at the first sign of getting reliable pussy.

That's how they operate.

I hang out with some of my friends from the time I was twelve, but its a different scenario. We only see each other once a week, maybe twice a month to play videogames.
I'm the olnly one who doesn't fuck bitches or have gf.
>>
>>81004051

I've never had friends in this sort of way. I did later on but honestly I feel like the friends I've made from 16-21 are incapable of operating beyond an acquaintance level. It gets to the point where I resent them for how little they're capable of connecting and engaging in fulfilling experiences.

>>
Don't have friends anymore.

Got way too fucking hard to deal with questions like "Where is your girlfriend, Anon?" and talk about sex in general with your normie buddies.

Had to give it all up for the life of a hermit or I would have eventually committed suicide.

I usually say something like "Soon as I find one I can stand for more than a couple days, I'll let you know."

It helps that I've had sex a few times before, though.

For people that have had all of them, rank these:

>Friends you would play with and watch tv with and talk shit with at 12

>Girl you were in "love" with and dated at 16

>Friends you would play vidya with and drink beer with and talk shit with at 21

>Committed long term adult relationship post-age 25

I work full time and everybody around me is married with children. I don't make friends with them and try to change the conversation if I get stuck in one about social matters.

Yes hermits can have jobs. Its the only thing I've managed to not fuck up in my life.
>>
>>81007516

>>
>>81009702
Same here. after The age of 17/18 I only hung around with my cousin and smoked weed. I fucking hated when his friends would come over or we would go to a pub and sex topics come up. I Don't even hang around with him anymore pretty much for that reason. i've been alone nearly my entire 20's besides having a loving , understanding family. I've had social anxiety for years and I need to get a job soon. I can act around people but getting close to certain people on lunch breaks etc sounds like a nightmare. I feel trapped.

I had some friends from the neighborhood but one became an obnoxious deviant and the other one was always kind of a contrarian, although we never really fell through. I will be the one to stop talking to you, if I am in a bad place in my life and feel like you won't be understanding. Which I have been for years now.

Pay for an hour with a high class escort, let her suck you, pull you, fuck her, feel her tits, rub her clit.

It will feel terrible and you will feel terrible afterwards, but at least you'll be able to hold a conversation about sex.

I've seen movies that are much more objectively kino, but this is still one of my all-time favorites. Just hits home every single time

>Be in 3-4th grade
>Star Wars is what all the boys are into
>One day have an urge to craft
>Take piece of paper, roll it into tube, tape securely
>Decorate it, color blade, design hilt, etc.
>End up with miniature foot-long lightsaber
>Friends catch sight of it and think it's the coolest shit they'd ever seen
>Within an hour the whole grade had caught wind of it and everyone was making their own customized mini-lightsabers
>Recess came and the playground was filled with boys dualing and shit
>By the end of the day everybody had made between 2-3 average and the teachers banned us from making anymore because they were lying all over the floor

That's my best memory from those days. I wonder if anybody else I knew back then recalls that day
>>
>>81009842
I can tell you that my friends I shot the shit with at 12 are more or less the same friends I shoot the shit with at 21 (and now drink with). Guess I'm just lucky like that
>>
While I still know the people I was best friends with when I was twelve, they just aren't the same. In a sense, they really aren't even the same people or really that much of friends for all we really have in common is our past together.

I miss those days.
>>
>28 and no friends

Where did everything go so wrong for me
>>
I don't even know how to make friends anymore.
>>
I think it's almost impossible to become really close friends with someone after a certain age.

So unless you stay close to someone throughout your entire life, you will most likely never get better than close acquaintances.
>>
>>81010291
Well maybe I exaggerated a bit, because only with one of them I was like very best friends since then, the others came along and at about 12 we were already all together. And yes they are still my best friends. It certainly doesn't feel the same, but that's because we have aged, not that I feel them less of friends.
I think it is also because I never cared to make any other good friends.
>>
>>81010432
run up to random people and yell the word friend.
>>
>>81010517
Well you are pretty lucky still.
At some point, especially when people start working or going to college/university, most people change so much that you realize you don't have that much in common with your friends as you thought you did.
>>
>>81010276

I had a similar experience in middle. It was a bit more well-founded because I was a bit of a known trickster but I never stole anything and there was really no reason to think I did.

>One day kid loses something
>Convinced I'd filched it
>Swear up and down I didn't

I have a group of 10 plus people, who all go to different schools or work in different cities and I still see them twice a week.
I've known all of them for at least 6 years and some of them even more than 15 years.

The secret is loyalty.
I have people in my life who I have more in common with than my friends, but I don't like them to the same extent as I do my friends. Most of my hobbies I can only discuss on a superficial level with my friends, but I don't really care, because I know I can trust them and I can just be myself.
>>

>>81005222
>Some people on this board think its wrong to kill people who post this.
>>
>>81010919

I have 3 former friends who are like this.

My best advice: Don't be needy or desperate to hang out with him/her.
When they are around, invite them to hang out but if they can't (most likely making up an excuse), just let it go. If they truly are still interested in a friendship they will reach out to you

On the other hand if you do see them regularly but don't like what they've become, then there is no point in hanging out. You will just become resentful because they aren't the same person you knew.

Maybe later on in life they will calm down and be nice to hang out with again.

I don't have any contact with my friends from when I was 12.
But one of my best friends was also my best friend in kindergarten, so yeah, I've known him since we were 3. Two others I don't actually remember if we've been friends in kindergarten, but definitely from 6 years onwards.
lost contact with them when I was about 10 (different schools), reconnected with them when I was 17.
26 now and still love those fuckers.
>>
Small groups work man. Im 26. Im happy with a few close friends and a few extra "friends of friends". I go out to drink. Eat. Hangout with like 1-5 people. At most maybe double.

But if youre over 25 and care more about how many and not how good, then you failed.

Also this movie is goat. But does give feels because you did have more freedom as a kid. When "we" were young we would go to the park. Swing set. Play manhunt. Ride bikes. You do that at 26 and youre pretty autistic. Minus maybe biking and hiking.

Once you grow up stick to people you trust and like. Now people for a number

I have 2 separate spheres of friends. One group consists of the people I grew up with all throughout public school and the others are the ones I made in college and afterwards. I keep the 2 groups distant from one another because I'm sorta hedging my bets.

I still have the old friends around because I'm not really interested in breaking ties, but I only occasionally hang with them. Like during football games, summer BBQs, or a trip here and there (like Cancun 2 years back). The other group are the ones I hang out with more often because frankly, I feel a lot closer to them. I dormed with some of these people, been to a fuckton of parties with them, attended weddings, and all sorts of memorable shit.

I have only 1 friend from childhood that I keep in touch with (he called me every semester to see what I was up to). So I guess he'd be like Chris from Stand by Me. He's married and has 2 sons. His wife is really chill and loves having me over. I've babysat their kids and go to dinner with them every once in a while. But I still sorta only want to hang out with him sporadically. I feel that I can tolerate him and the old friends in doses rather than every weekend like I do with my post-HS friends.

Does this make me a shitty person? I don't really think so. I just prefer one group over the other, but I don't really see the need to burn bridges with the other.

>>81011099
QFT

These 2 guys who were friends in HS became buddies with me. They knew each other longer than I knew them. One of them became a real asshole after graduation. Let's just say that the other buddy and I started to distance ourselves from him. Last I heard, the ex-buddy married this landwhale (I shit you not, she's hitting critical mass) and working as maintenance in an apartment complex. Sometimes you gotta let people go.
>>
>>81006955
this is mostly true. I have a massive network of people I know but very few, if any, close friends. The thing is that this network is one of the reasons why I have been relatively successful. Your friends, by their nature, live in the same space that you do. But your acquaintances don't. These are the people you get jobs from and who introduce you to your future wife.

The strength of weak ties.

>I hear that he lost a couple of his cards
>For some reason I find it funny to hide while he is looking for me to ask where they are because he thinks I took them
>When I reveal myself, he is sure I took them, rightly so tbqh
>I tell him I didn't
>long story short, everyone gets aggressive, I get defensive, they don't like me anymore
>Only the other kid is being friendly to me, who was fucking disgusting

I ended up crying and begging my parents to take me back. This probably changed me, in bad or good ways.

Never got back there, the only happy memories I have are those before this incident and after when I met a couple of sweet girls and another kid who we had to do a performance with. That was pretty cool.

At least the movie versions of Vern and Teddy were spared the fate of their book counterparts. They both died in their 20's though Movie Teddy still has a shitty life in the end. Movie Vern has a wife and kids with a steady job.

And why should I follow the wise words of master philosopher Steven king?
Ditching your friends whenever something comes along that better serves your interests seems like a very sociopathic thing to do.
>>
>>81012486
Bullshit. I lost my virginity at 22 during senior year of undergrad.

I don't understand why the optimal age of having sex is 16. Wouldn't 17 or 18 be better because you're finally developing as a guy while girls are getting close to their sexual peak (17-22)?
>>
>>81012494
I remember reading that. It's more haunting with Gordie being the only one left alive at the end.

The movie itself was already quite difficult to get made btw. Nobody had done a coming of age movie that didn't have some type of romantic subplot. Maybe they changed that to make it less dark.
>>
>>81012546

I had a chance to lose my virginity when I was 13, we were dumb and I couldn't get it in and we gave up after two tries

didn't have sex till I was 23

it literally means nothing
>>
>Always had the same group close friends throughout primary and secondary school
>Constantly up to shenanigans like playing huge team airsoft wars in the woods behind our homes
>Would study, work, and adventure as a team
>Started to drift apart as we went to different colleges
>Always remained friendly and interested in each other
>Eventually we have reached the point where we've developed on our own and have grown distant
>Continue to work my ass off through undergrad
>Finally graduating from the joint MBA and JD program at Harvard
>Realize that everyone in my program is equally as much of a goal oriented work-a-holic as I am and that I've made zero friends here

I couldn't be more proud of myself, but, I have grown painfully aware of the fact that there will be a moment where I am conferred with my degree and I will have to turn around and face the fact that the only person who will be there is my grandmother. At one point I would have had an army of friends cheering for me, sadly now most of that sound will just be courtesy.

>tfw not close enough with anyone else that they never even brought sex into topic
>>
>>81012507
The movie doesn't touch on how the novella describes the friends drifting apart.

In the novella, Ace and his buddies all beat the shit out of Gordy and his friends. They refuse to squeal and got mad cred amognst their classmates for handling it like men. Vern and Teddy eventually found other friends that they ordered around and the treehouse became their's. Vern and Teddy eventually got their asses killed in a party fire (Vern) and drunk driving (Teddy).

Meanwhile, Gordy had to help Chris learn everything that he had skimped in class. This had been going on for several years so they had to spend hours upon hours every day going over lesson plans AND doing their homework. Meanwhile Chris was being harassed by everyone; his dad bullied him for thinking that he was better than his old man, the teachers discouraged him from trying, and all the well-off kids sneered at Chris. This is why Chris graduating HS, attending college, and becoming a lawyer was a big deal because he literally had the deck stacked against him.
>>

>Used to hang out with friends at the same house every other day after school
>Would play basketball, skate, vidya, watch movies, just chill outside before friend's mom came home

>Five years later, my friend that lived there died drunk driving
>Most of my other old friends aren't doing so well either
>Opiate addictions, poor, depressed, you name it
>Whenever I visit home I pass by that house
>It's been sold off now

Jesus Christ, what happened?
>>
>>81012566
Yeah, but it still sucks that they didn't give Teddy a happy ending like Vern did.

When I read the novella, I felt the same way that Gordie was the only one left in the gang. Chris almost made it out of that hick-town, but unfortunately got murdered in that restaurant scuffle. This is why you don't play Good Samaritan because people are fucking crazy.

I also liked how the novella addressed how Gordie resolved things with his parents (he took his kids to visit them) and while he was in Castle Rock, he saw a glimpse of Ace whose a local bar-stiff that works at the local mill and became a fatass. Gordie is a successful writer and doing fine in his life.

>Nobody had done a coming of age movie that didn't have some type of romantic subplot.
You see, I don't understand why every coming-of-age film has to do this. In fact, I've always wanted to see someone do a story that begins with a group of friends graduating from HS and flash-forwards to winter or spring break. They find that they aren't the same people anymore and are drifting apart. Less than Zero sorta did this, but no drugs or cheating on one's girlfriend in this idea.

>>81012589
I don't get having sex at 13. It's still 2 little kids trying to do stuff that they aren't equipped to handle. At least when you're in your late teens, you have the biochemical and physical stuff ready.
>>
>>81012615
Undergrad is where you can afford to have fun and make friends. No grad student can afford to waste time because the workload is insane.
>>
>>81012874

>It's still 2 little kids trying to do stuff that they aren't equipped to handle.

thats exactly what it was, desu I'm glad it didn't happen no fuckin way I was ready for that shit, and i tried to do it raw, I probably would have got her pregnant and ruined my life

I feel bad for teens who are virgins and wanting to kill themselves over it, it's like dude... YOU HAVE SO MUCH TIME !
>>
>>81012546
>17 or 18
by that age most of the teens already had atleast 3 partners, just think for a moment, a fucking 18 year old learning how to how hands, make out, etc, just ridiculous
>>
>>81012909
>I probably would have got her pregnant and ruined my life
That's actually the main reason why I didn't have sex in HS. I had a few opportunities, but I was deathly afraid of knocking up some girl and fucking up my life. That and the possibility of getting an STD.

One of the guys in my neighborhood was an all-star athlete and had a full ride to Villanova back in the late 90's. Unfortunately he got his girlfriend pregnant and they didn't get an abortion because they were both from Catholic families. I am surprised they didn't just give up the kid for adoption, but apparently the guy didn't go to college and worked at his dad's business to raise his daughter and girlfriend. He and his wife are good people, but I kinda get the feeling that he wishes that he could've gone to college.
>>
>>81012978
Making out is no big deal. Actually doing sexual shit by 13 or 14 is kinda freaky because regardless if it's a bj, hj, anal, or vaginal, they're too young to do that kind of shit.
>>
>>81013097
>13 or 14 is kinda freaky because regardless
I agree, but around 16 the cats out of the bag
>>
>>81012874
It's funny now that I think about it because my life and Gordie's life have unfolded kind of similarly, I grew up in a shitty small town, had a tight group of neighbourhood friends etc. I used to get pushed around a lot etc.

I got older, got the fuck out of there and every time I go back I'm half-petrified that something bad will happen to me since it's such an awful place. I'm in my early 30s, CEO of an international company (I'm at work drinking coffee, watching Fox News and shitposting - it's great) and all the guys who pushed me around as a kid are either fat losers, in and out of jail or straight up dead. I don't really keep in touch with my old buddies from the neighbourhood, I think I'm friends with one of them on FB. Might send him a message today....

I had childhood friends.
The three of us did everything together all the way through elementary, middle, and high school.
Afterwards we shacked up and shared a house for a bit that my parents owned.
Parents kicked then out and I was alone.
Ever since, we all grew distant.
7 years later I have no more friends.
One moved to Texas and the other has to support his family.
Me?
Well, I drink and play video games, watch movies, and read comics.
But these days, it's hard for me to do any of my hobbies anymore.
Watching movies and TV shows are the most effortless, so I lay alone in bed authority vodka and wish my life was over.
>>
Well I was 13.

And I had a similar group at 22.

It's cool but this sorta thing isn't for everyone.

1 and 3 are the same for me as well, and we're still best friends at 30.

2 was garbage and not worth it, but that's in hindsight and without acknowledging that it was a learning experience.

4 is great, we've been together for 10 years. We started dating when she was still in high school (I'm a few years older). But just like real life relationships there are bumps in the road like fights and arguments.
>>

>>
>>81013932
it's not uncommon, and mostly people make the most permanent companions in their late 20s when their lives become settled. Friendships require all things to remain the same, partly why if you become friends with a girl its rare that you'll have a sexual relationship with them.

The main reason I'm friends with classmates some years on is that we are in the same situations, play vidya and don't have active social lives. Soon as that changes its over.

In an odd way, if you have a solid relationship as an adult you feel just as secure/free as you did at 12.

For me at least.
>>

Well i'm 21 so:

12>21>16

Since your first love almost always results in breaking up and feeling like shit, i rank it last.

And at 12 there is something "special", playing and having fun somehow feels better than when i do it at 21, it may be that when you are a kid you almost dont have problems nor responsabilities (unless obviously you had a bad childhood with a lot of problems that made you have to mature earlier than other kids)

This, million times... especially when your getting older and your old friends start to have careers and families of their own, you become acquaintances at best, it is both ludicrous and impossible to arrange some time to "just hang out" with friends. Atleast thats the case when living in a major metropolitan area, im sure there are people living less stressful and more socially "fulfilling" lives somewhere.
