>back when Disney was good
I'm the only one who think this and Treasure Planet are two of the best movie Disney ever made?
No, I agree with you. Atlantis is still in my top 10 films of all time.
She gave me such boners as a kid.
That film was the turning point. Disney showed they didn't know what the hell they were doing anymore and had to rely heavily on pixar to get them through.
>>80997389
That was my single favorite adventure movie as a kid. Iron Giant was pretty good too.
>>80997705
Sure it was.
>>80998612
Both were anti-gun as fuck, but the message was totally lost on me as a kid because all I remembered was how badass the action scenes were compared to any other animated movies.
>>80998745
fuck you
lilo & stitch is great
>>80997389
Atlanis is ridiculously underrated. Has the best cast of characters in any Disney movie and a a decent OST. And pretty great action.
>90% of the crew dies in the first 40 minutes.
Great.
Treasure Planet was great for Jim and Long John bonding with a few weaknesses. I think Muppet's Treasure Island was better but that's not insulting Treasure Planet.
Another underrated was Great Mouse Detective.
>>80997389
Saw it in theatres, thought it was underwhelming but liked the designs of the ship and vehicles - especially the Leviathan.
Emperor's New Groove and Lilo&Stitch are superior 2D Disney.Sinbad: legend of the seven seas is the superior 2D adventure kino
>>80998785
No shit. Why did you say this was a turning point if it came out in 2001?
>>80997705
Pleb opinion as it was their best movie around that time. It's unfortunate it flopped. Not because "oh it was one of their tries at serious and sci fi/action and it's flop means no more experiments" but "all that PLUS it was actually good"
>>80998833
Why do people like Emperor's Groove that much? It was funny but truly not that great. Must be most overrated Disney flick ever. Lilo and Stitch did some great things too though.
Why do they wear the mask?
>>80997389
My uncle helped animate the robot in treasure planet! He was always upset it didn't do that well. I must admit I don't really care for it myself
Daily reminder that this was Jim Varney's last film.
>>80997389
Pure kino.
i really like late 90s early 2000s disney animation but i guess most of it can be chalked to nostalgia
tarzan and hercules were the first movies i saw in the theatres that i can remember
>>80998745
I forgot about that fluke still it was a fluke that only made sense to those growing up at the time. Disney 2D animated feature films pretty much were dead after Mulan and Hercules. They were the end of their resurgence and Silver Age. They were decent but the earlier films such as Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin are still classics.
>>80999057
Yes! More concept art please! (These guys should have made a 20,000 Leagues cartoon too)
>>80999098
> Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin are still classics.
No Lion King?
>>80999118
Imagine being the one to have to drive that thing.
>>80999166
I was thinking of it at the time but forgot to put it down.
>>80999232
Comfy
>>80999098
no Jungle Book?
That moment when Disney obviously just gave up the ghost and handed over the animating reigns to pixar. They literally made Roseanne a cow and no one batted an eye. Why would anyone think a person with a voice like nails on a chalkboard should be given any kind of voice acting role......
>>80999273
Fukkin' saved.
>>80999304
Jungle Book was apart of the Golden Age of Disney Animations. We were talking about the resurgence and later.
>>80999249
Honestly, what a dark movie. But so so good for adults.
>>80999385
I'm no master but Jungle Book wasn't golden age I believe and instead was a weak point where they literally just copied
>>80999413
"Lots of flash and dust - very MTV!"
>>80999412
It might not be as classic as some of Walt Disney's other animations but it was quite successful and well remembered.
>>80999558
I have to ask- where did you find all this?
>>80999641
All over the place really.
I swim pretty gir- pretty good. I swim pretty good.
>>80999684
I had only ever seen three of them. I wish studios would regularly release all of the concept art instead of making us hunt for little tastes of it. I guess some do release an "art of" book.
>>80999709
Is she the best Disney princess?
>>80999709
It is pretty well. God you are dumb.
>>80999765
Not even a Disney princess.
>>80997389
Girlfriends favorite movie, she had a pissyfit after watching it and I told her I didn't like it.
is Treasure Planet better?
>>80999814
he already said the "G".
>>80999843
Shit, you have really bad taste. but to answer your question: No.
She shoudl dump you.
>>80999765
While shes from Disney and was a princess she isn't technically a Disney princess.
She is the best girl tho.
>>80997389
Liked Atlantis, Treasure Planet not so much.
Lilo and Stitch and The Emperor's New Groove are my favorite of the "post-Renaissance" 2D Disney films.
>>80999855
What in the fuck is with you girls and taking your opinions and likes so fucking seriously? It's fine for you to like stupid cliche bullshit, that doesn't make it good. You'll have screaming matches until your throat bleeds over music and come to physical violence over movies. Get a fucking grip, get some therapy, get the fuck out.
>>80999843
These films came out of a low point in Hollywood in terms of animations. Cartoons were basically dying and they didn't help.
>>80999917
Shit, that sucks. I told one of my ex's her taste in anime is bad but she dealt with it.
Actually it's not THAT bad. But still. Sorry, you had bad luck. I've been pretty luck about them and tastes.
>>80998684
YES GENERAL TULLIUS
>>81000142
OH FUCK
I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE
>>80999295
>battery time is 40 fucking minutes
>>80998916
Easier to draw nameless nobodies than dozens of different human faces.
>>81000218
Also we might feel bad that like 20 of those guys burned alive in there tents when the firebugs swarmed if they didnt have masks
>>80999339
>They literally made Roseanne a cow
Tell me you didn't jerk it to her, come on, everyone did.
>>80997633
>shaved pits, waxed forearms
Ugh.
>>80997389
Atlantis is such a mixed bag of a movie. on the one hand its gorgeous and the story they have to tell can be great, but they don't actually do anything with it.
its extremely paint by the numbers and most of the movie is them setting up for the adventure, which then ends abruptly with 1 dimensional bad guys.
they could have done more with it.
I think Lilo and Stitch was the last good Disney animated film.
>Treasure Planet
another film with squandered potential. though it was a better script then atlantis, the animation was all over the place and it just wasn't as memorable as atlantis.
these films need more time in pre production to have made them great films instead of good -ok films.
I wonder if someone saw Titan A.E. and made treasure planet. they have very similar art styles.
>>81000282
She's 16, anon
>>81000300
Treasure Planet had such a great world. I only wish there was more information about it.
I ran a tabletop campaign about it but I had to fill in so many things. Ended up being a hit with everyone though.
>>81000300
Treasure Planet was unique in that it was the only platonic male love story I've really seen in disney animation.
too bad it got ruined by that fucking robot.
>>80999814
great flcik! Great frieking flick!
>>80998916
No one cared who they was before.
>>81000300
Frozen was the last good Disney Animation.
>implying this isn't the best Disney movie
>>81000300
I like Treasure Planet a good deal more than Atlantis. I feel like it actually has better animation, and it resonates with me more.
>>81000571
I really don't count 3D stuff as classic Disney animation.
its all pixar shit to me. I'l watch and enjoy the movies but I can't see them as a Disney animated films..haard to explain.
the feeling of it is gone. Paperman short was the closest to Disney animation I've seen in years.
>>81000615
>I feel like it actually has better animation
I wont spoil it for you then. once you see it its all you see. though I agree, its not a bad film. Its enjoyable.
>>81000593
I tried to like this, but it was not good. seemed more like Don bluth than Disney. And as much as I love Don Bluth films (wish they were still around) it just didn't work here.
the story wasn't that great either.
So is the animation department shut up now? no more 2D films ever? that would suck.
Atlanis and TP were both garbage though.
>>81000656
In that case I'd have to go back to Hercules or Aladdin before I could call a Disney Animation good.
>>81000571
Frozen is the worst nu-Disney animation.
>>81000969
Frozen is actually a quintessential Disney animation. Disney animations are basically just fairytale musicals.
Post best Disney songs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xAK1J1kk-Y
>>81001083
How "quintessential" it is has nothing to do with its actual quality.
>>81001117
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVAVsCvUtwo
>>81000300
>Titan AE
I wanted to like that movie so much because of the Dredj's designs.
Fuck they looked great.
>>81001153
Except taking issue with a quintessential Disney film is tantamount to taking issue with all Disney animations. If you can't find Frozen to be decent to good then you couldn't find any of their films to be decent to good and would therefore feel they all are lacking in quality.
>>81001274
>>81001274
Boy I wish I was as simple-minded and eager to generalize as you, would make things a lot easier.
>>81001274
The fuck are you going on about Anon?
>>81001343
It is simple logic, sir.
>>81000300
Apparently Treasure Planet had been in Disney's hopper for decades, the higher management just sat on it until they didn't have any other ideas and then farted it out half baked at the last minute.
>>81001274
It's a joke...right
>>81001382
I never watched Treasure Planet but I am going to guess Treasure Planet is a poor man's Rogue Planet.
>>80997389
>>80997389
i liked them too, OP
i even played the PS1 game for Atlantis endlessly growing up
It's okay when Disney steals from Japan
>>81001382
Man Disney really were doomed animation-wise before their purchase of Pixar injected some creativity into the studio. Bringing back Lasseter is probably the single smartest decision they could ever have made.
>>81001274
>If you don't like frozen you don't like all Disney animated films!
Why are Frozen fags so fucking stupid? Pic related is a better movie in literally every way
>>81001581
I was surprised at how good this film was. I've only seen it once but i'm actually tempted to watch it again. A shame I didn't go to the cinema to watch it since it was a visual delight.
>>80997389
Forget the Atlantis stuff, I wanted to see a movie about the crew and their adventures before then. It seemed like they had quite a reputation as a bunch of asshole dirty mercs getting into trouble around the world together.
>>81001581
Let me guess. You liked Lilo and Stitch as well.
>>81001600
The visuals are insanely good. Even if you don't like 3D animation you have to give them some credit here
>>80997389
I agree. I also think Brother Bear is pretty underrated.
>>81001710
>those facial expressions
Kill me
>>80997389
One of the few disney films on Australian netflix, cheers for the reminder it exists, gonna watch it now
>>81001783
Yeah out of all the posters thats the shittiest. I really like the japanese one
>>81001710
Reaction image gold.
>>81001805
Japan REALLY hates the Dreamworks smirk. God bless Japan.
>>81001805
The bear on the left seems to be doing some kind of "really nigger?" face, and the one on the right seems to be mentally challenged.
>>80997705
>Had to rely heavily on Pixar to get them through
Quite the opposite now, Disney released arguably their two best modern films in 2016 while Pixar has had one good movie since Toy Story 3, which was in 2010.
>>81000416
Yeah I liked that about the story and how Jim's dad bailed on his family. I think this is the only disney movie to depict this.
>>80997389
Love Atlantis, as much as I realize how flawed it is. The designs of everything are fantastic and aside from plot of Milo getting everything handed to him when he gets the Shepherd's Journal I think it works well.
I've only seen Treasure Planet once and it was a long time ago. Beautiful to look at and even some alright characters, but it's not memorable to me for some reason and not especially enjoyable.
>>81001581
It was a little simple in places and the music was somewhat lackluster, but I REALLY had a good time watching it. I was pleasantly surprised at how consistently funny it could be, and everything is absolutely wonderful to look at, the water effects especially.
This is the best Superman movie to have come out on addition to being pure animated kino. Prove me wrong.
>>80999684
Why the fuck did he try to kill her?
>>81002199
Most overrated animation by millenniscum.
>>80999684
BEST WAIFU
>>81002389
Fine. Do better. Educate us, oh ye who knows so much.
>>81002413
Waifu means the same thing as wife, hence the name. It doesn't mean "character I want to fuck."
>>80997389
Nah you're on the money with this OP. always bothered me for years how underrated both of these were.
>>80997389
I liked it better when it's called Nadia: Secret of Blue Water
>>81001541
i can't remember where this is from
>>81000142
Blowing my fucking mind here senpai
Disney was never good. As a youngling I disliked their stuff, mainly because their stories were always dogshit.
>>81001653
>Not liking Lilo and Stitch
>>80999098
Tarzan came out in 1999, so I wouldnt say disney died after hercules and mulan
>>81000300
I like Atlantis a lot, but the movie length is its biggest problem. It has too much buildup (which is top quality btw) for a 95 minute movie. It should be half an hour longer at the very least.
Villains are ok I guess, it is Disney after all, so one dimension is the most we were going to get.
>>80998916
Because faceless goons that look like ww1 stormtroopers are easier to identify as villains
>Gasmaks + nazi hats= EVIL!!!
>>80998745
https://youtu.be/UaQyHTHFEq8
They changed a cut a bunch from the original movie because of 9/11 lol.
>>81005393
They should have doubled down on it instead.
>Where should we crash this plane so it doesn't kill anyone we know or care about?
>Into the twin towers! There's nothing but strangers in them.
