Because they'd have to pay royalties to the surviving members, as well as the estates of the dead. It's a huge cost for a movie that regardless of how well received it was, or how fantastic it was, wouldn't make that much money. It'd make a profit, but not enough to justify a studio spending the time and money needed to make it.

Hard days night was genius like others said, I mean seriously a very ahead of its time movie. Taking the biggest band in the world at the time and shitting on a lot of its fanbase, the press, and the naysayers while being very funny and the acting feeling quite natural.

Well Hollywood DID make a movie about The Beatles early days in Hamburg Germany when they were just starting out called Backbeat.

Ron Howard also gathered a whole mess load of early film footage about The Beatles early days called Eight Days a Week.

If you are a die hard Beatles' fan like I am I would highly recommend both films.

Make the movie 2.5 hours long. First 20 minutes would be them meeting up. Maybe a scene with John in university, and George having to decide whether or not to tour at such a young age. Spend the next 10 minutes at their German concert. By 1 hour, get to the Ed Sullivan show, and then maybe do a montage from 64-66. The next hour should involve lots of recording studio shit, recording SPLHCB, TWA, and finish with the recording of Abbey Road. Have some drama thrown in there, and have the final 30 minutes involve the rooftop concert and a final goodbye. Maybe take 5 minutes to show what they did after The Beatles, but then again, maybe not.

Do NOT use any of their children to act as their parent, maybe have Paul Dano play Paul, and Joaquin Phoenix as Lennon.

Weiner and AMC paid Apple Corps (the company that produced all The Beatles records) a quarter of a million dollars to play "Tomorrow Never Knows". In addition to that, Apple Corps has to approve everything for any project they sign off on.

Thats why you next to never see actual Beatles' tracks in movies/tv. Its ridiculously expensive.

God knows how much a movie would actually cost, especially one that'd have be signed off on by four different estates.
