What is the longest film you have seen? Did you feel that the length was earned?

The Director's Cut of OUATIA, I wouldn't have changed a thing.
Satantango
No

Gone With the Wind. I felt the length was good. Helped with character development and it progressed fairly well to me.
I was ok with the length. It was fast paced enough that it didn't really feel that long.
barry lyndon
3h45
yes

This for me as well.
Second longest was Seven Samurai. Old and long Japanese movie = zzz
Never watched a movie longer than 3 hours. Fight me

Satantango
Yes
>>80934811
I felt it could have easily been trimmed to like 4 hours
>>80934166
Greatest Story Never Told. 6 fucking hours but worth it.
>>80934863
well there i will have to disagree with you. Everything was completely perfect. Every shot was exactly as long it should be. This is a film that stays in your mind. The images get burned in your retina. When you finish it you feel that you have really experienced something new.

>Seven Samurai is three and a half hours long
Shit, it felt like barely two when I watched it.
>9 hours
Whats the deal? Is it worth it?
>>80935074
>9h 11min
hmmmmm
/tv/ tricked me into watching the directors cut
>dude jew gangsters lmao
>not binge watching all 13,858 episodes of As the World Turns
shoah. 9 hours i think. although it's a documentary, not a film i guess.
>>80936530
I believe that's a film in the mockumentary style.

No
> I always fell asleep trying to watch lord of the rings too
Gangs of Wasseypur (5 and a half hours)
I thought it was worth it. The story spans multiple generations over a 60-year period, so it doesn't really linger, and it's got enough variety to keep you interested

I had no problem with the lenght of the movie for most of it, but the actual attack of the village was too long so i watched the movie in 2 different sittings.
Otherwise, it's probably Return of the King extanded cut, and it wasn't worth it

>Ambiancé is a 720 hour/30 day long film that is set to premiere on December 31 2020. This will be the artist Anders Weberg's good bye to the moving medium as a way of expression for the last 25 years and no more films will be made after that. C'est fini.
The final film will be screened once syncronised on all the continents and then deleted. Ambiancé is 720 hours long (30 days) and will be shown in its full length on a single occasion syncronised in all the continents of the world and then destroyed.
Ambiancé will be the longest film made that doesn't exist.
Up until 2020 three teasers/trailers will be publiced.
The first 72 minute teaser was released in 2014, the first short trailer in 2016 and then the longer 72 hour trailer will be released in 2018.
Probably Das Boot. Worth it for sure.

I've been interested in that for a while, probably will just wait for the tv series though. Seems much more approachable.
>>80935506
It is not worth it. The whole film drags, on almost a shot by shot level it feels like Leone never wanted to cut a frame of it. It's so sluggish without the cerebral attribute or plot density that makes other long films worthwhile
Out 1 Noli Me Tangere (12 hours) yes
red cliff
length was okay and it was well paced for the most part
>>80938104
sad gimmick film.
