I'm a big fan of the longer top, shorter sides (but not quite undercut) look. The guy in that pic is going for it, but the difference in length isn't very large so at a quick glance it seems like the same length throughout, which screams "I don't care about how I look and not in a good way". Like my hair bumps up in the front if I part on the right side but stays flat in the same area if I part on the left.

If you're trying to figure out what to do with your hair, I (again) recommend the short sides longer top look as it will likely never be "out of fashion" and is simple to maintain. What you do specifically, like how/where it's parted, is your choice and what you think flows and works best with your hair. Ask your barber for their opinion, it's their job, and as long as you're not going to a chain like Great Clips or Super Cuts (MAJOR key, step #1 folks) they'll be happy to give their input. Also don't get some garbage haircut that you can't maintain yourself for less than two months like a hard part, nobody likes paying for frequent haircuts and even barbers will tell you it looks bad after 3 days (and it's their job to take your money for Christ's sake).
