I would actually really really prefer vampire hunter d to Akira. I mean you have to assume they're going to fuck it up and change stuff no matter what they do. With Akira you could have cool scenes with the biker gangs and maybe at the end you'd have good action, but they'd just so badly badly fuck up the other stuff. With Vampire Hunter D it's mostly D just fucking up werewolves and weird monsters and shit, so I feel the final product would be a lot easier to sit through than Hollywood's Akira.
