What are some good movies about depression, ennui, boredom?
a.k.a. Having several very important things to do but avoiding them. Boredom and apathy accumulated from years of monotony. Feelings of pointlessness, aimlessness. Lack of occupation and excitement. You know, all that good stuff.
It would be nice if the movies have a happy ending, but it's not necessary.
All alone in my thread, just like my life

Just stream The man who sleeps, either Youtube or somewhere else, bad quality, but it's not the kind of film that needs HD. Excellent and related. Also I can't believe you can't find synecdoche new york, it's quite popular and great as well.

I second the fire within. I also wanna watch oslo 31st August which people say are very similar (maybe a remake, can't remember) and recommend it a lot in these threads.

This, especially the malaise trilogy.
Nobody knows.
Pretty certain thats what its called. Its a jap movie based on the case of a mother who left her three young kids left to fend for themselves. Really depressing stuff and it does not have a happy ending but you do see the sort of life you'd expect from an impoverished family living in the big smoke. The film is very slow paced which i find adds to the lifelessness in the life of these kids.
Rundskop is a Belgian one that pretty good also i recently saw, deals with a guy who is incredibly lonely and cannot form any non-work related relationships with people, the film delves into why that is in the form of flashbacks to his childhood and you will be shocked. It really gets into the mind of this guy and his situation and a the sort of film where only men can understand
