This movie was terrible, but Travolta was amazing in it.
Why?
Because he actually personally gave a fuck about it's plot and setting, as batshit as it was.
He was personally invested in it, so he put effort into it.
His performance was cheesy and retarded, but also genuinely fun, because he genuinely gave a shit.
Even the shittiest movie can have redeeming qualities if some of the actors in it actually give a shit about what they're doing when portraying a character.

i have to wonder about Travolty there, if he thinks "Battlefield:Earth" is good sf.

One of the writers claims that Travolta called the script "the Schindler's List of science fiction" when he first read it.

How can you glean all of this from watching a film? I just watch the actors act and then just turn my brain off, how do I ascend?
I really need to get around to watching this at some point. Whatever happened to /tv/ chat streams?

Man-animal posting needs to be a thing. Battlefield Earth is just ripe for memeing on a Bane level.
