Childhood is idolizing Michael Mann
Adulthood is realizing Brian De Palma has been the better director all along
Ascension is realizing Blackhat has transcended filmography long ago
> yfw Miami Vice and Blackhat are two of the most important films about life in the 21st century but their kinography was too advanced for the average pleb to appreciate
> yfw Collateral is Mann's worst film (still an 8/10 by normal standards), but everyone remembers it because of the alleyway scene

Mann is the best working director today, De Palma was the best director of the 1980s. His last good film was Mission Impossible.

It's just a case of Mann advancing in sophistication to the level that he left most of his audience behind. A video game player could watch Collateral and enjoy it, but they would never be equipped for Miami Vice or Blackhat. Leave it to the Disney factory to please the many. Mann makes films for us few now, but those films will dramatically change our lives forever.

>when you're a pleb
>Mann is 74
>his next film is a biopic
>it's not released until 2019
>meaning no kino for at least another 5 years
WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS
>>80683647
2019 is in 2 years though.
>>80683675
I mean biopics cannot be true kino, and by the time he completes another film it's gonna be a long while
>>80682036
One time i Marathoned Michaels Manns whole filmography...
When I got to Miami Vice.... idk...wasnt impressed. .
>>80682036
I'VE BECOME SO NUMB
>>80683731
Who's the biopic about? Are you guys memeing about Blackhat, I don't give a shit about hacking so I couldn't care less if the computer scenes aren't "realistic".
>>80683766
He outgrew you. I would argue that artistically speaking. Mann's filmography had barely even begun until Miami Vice. That one film is worth everything he maded up until that point combined, and this is coming from somebody who had Manhunter as my number 1 film of all time for a long while.

Enzo Ferrari. I just don't think I've ever seen a gripping biopic. They're always so bland. Hopefully I'm wrong.
And no Blackhat is not memeing. I once thought so too, since I used to take ((((critics)))) into consideration, but if you consider yourself a fan of Mann's you owe it to yourself to watch it.

>Miami Vice was the better film
"No"
>>80683901
>Enzo Ferrari.
Sounds like it could be interesting, I enjoyed Public Enemy. I'm trying to think if there's any biopic that reached kino levels, but I can't think of one desu.
>>80684122
pedos don't have a say in kino, your mind is warped by cunny
>>80684160
Is Public Enemy worth the watch?
>>80684666
Yeah, definitely.
>>80682036
just watched that again yesterday, had forgotten just how bad it fucking was, boring as shit
>>80684735
How is Mann still such an effective pleb filter in this day and age?
