Donal, what does it say
on the whiteboard?
On the... It says C6.
What does it say on every piece of
paperwork and on every sign-off sheet?
- It says C6.
- I says C6.
And you know why?
Because, eventually, when my building
is complete, it will be 55 floors high.
It will weigh 2,223,000
metric tons.
Okay? My building will alter the
water table and squeeze granite.
It will be visible
from 20 miles away.
At sunset, it will cast a
shadow probably a mile long.
Now, if the concrete at the base
of my building is not right,
if it slips half an
inch, cracks appear.
Right? If cracks appear, then they
will grow and grow, won't they?
- And the whole thing will collapse.
- Ivan, look...
You make one mistake, Donal,
one little fucking mistake,
and the whole world comes
crashing down around you.
Do you understand?
So you tell Stafford, C6.

Great fucking movie man. Wish it was more seen.

I enjoyed this film.
I really liked how much he liked concrete
>the building is a metaphor for his life
whoa
Did I miss something here? Was there some hidden message or something? I liked it, but felt like a weird film to make if the story was literally about a guy planning construction and admitting he cheated.
I think the only flaws in this film are the awkward monologues he aims at his father. They don't fit the rest of the film, and probably should have been cut.

There's conflict and resolution, what's odd about this?
Prolly one of the best acting jobs in the ladt 5 years imo
>>80644893
No hidden message, just a man with principles who's ready to come to term with one mistake he made even though it might fuck his whole life.
>>80644966
There isn't really any resolution though, in the end

> What the fuck are you looking at? Laughing, aren't you? Laughing at my predicament! Familiar predicament to a man like you, isn't it dad? There he is, look! Like father, like son! There's the man I made. What is it they say,"the apple doesn't fall far from the tree"? Well, that's where you're wrong! Listen to me, you fucking piece of worthless shit: I want you to watch. Do you know, infact, I would like to take a fucking shovel and dig you up out of the fucking ground and make you watch me tonight. I would pull open your eyes and kick the mud and worms and shit out of your fucking ears just for the duration of this journey, because it's me driving. Me! Not you. And unlike you, I will drive straight to the place where I should be, and I will be there to take care of my... to take care of my fuck-up.
Who was he talking to in he backseat, no one was there?
>that scene when he has to tell his son he won't be home over the phone
>I love you
>"what?"
>Uh.... nothing, just make sure you tell mom to call me

There is. The film is not about the specific events, it's about his personal internal conflict. The film ends with him shaking off the last of his doubt and doubling down on his certainty that what he's doing is the Responsible thing to do.

>"Tom, I've got a role where you're literally the only person in the movie and you never leave your car"
>"Tom, I've got a movie where you play the two main roles simultaneously"
It's like his agent was trying to catch him out

I agree it felt a little too theatrical for the type of story they were going for
