She is unquestionably the best female character in this entire series. There's nothing even remotely SJW about this movie which is why it's so satisfying. The characters are all minority hires (but the main ones are Jyn (white female), Cassian (white hispanic), Krennic (white male), and Moff (white male). The two main leaders of the rebel alliance are also white (one female senator and one male military commander).

I know what you're thinking because I thought it too, but trust me, if you give this movie a chance you will enjoy it, and yes, the battle scenes are definitely more gritty and violent then the cartoonish horse shit you're used to seeing in SW.

There's an insurgent strike against an Empire patrol in an urban environment that was something straight out of black hawk down.

The climax starts with a complex ambush started off by remote det then escalates into an all firefight then escalates even fruther to AT-ATs, Bombing runs, Star Destroyers going head to head with a rebel fleet, and fighter squadrons providing air support.

There's even a beach scene. Just give it a chance and stop being a fucking dunce.

That being said, if you're a forty year old man child that jerks off thinking about lightsabers then you should probably go watch the animated crap because this really is a plot centric war movie.

Having watched every single fucking star wars movie on opening night since the day it all started so long fucking ago, I think Rogue One was the best movie in the entire series. Although at times that bar is set really fucking low. Lucas shit the bed on the series long before most of you were born, shit it hard. Very few of you understand that. Even at the time Jedi was recognized by the fans as the worst of the original trilogy. We had that fucking recognition as soon as we got out of the theater, into the van and the has started to wear off. Forget the next three where we old fucker went in gritting our teeth while the optimistic kids were all saying there was no way for it to suck. We knew better, we survived that shit storm once already.

But his new stand alone. I admit I was surprised. But not too surprised. Lucas had nothing to do with it, it was all disney and those fuckers sometimes know their audience. This was a dark and gritty gut puncher for the old fans, and it hit. This was not one for the toddlers, which may be why some of you hate it, and thats ok. There will be a happy slappy hijinx Star Wars around the corner probably to make money off of you so just wait.

There was shit I hated about it, it was not perfect. Fucking CGI princess had no point in this movie and should have just been a hand off and a back shot at the most. Same with the fucking droids in the rebel base, shit should be cut out. Seeing CGI Cushing just kinda gave me indigestion. I know he's supposed to be around directing all this shit for the empire, but less screen time because there is really just no way to make it appetizing. But that still was not as bad as CGI princess, that was just shit. Vader was fine. Motherfucker is in a full body suit and James Earl Jones is still kicking so go nuts. Give him a fucking solo movie have two hours of red light sabers just cutting bitches up while he monologues fucks twilek whores.

Everything Saw Guerrera related was really boring.
For me Krennic was the best part of the movie. I love the part on Scariff, the rebels attack, and everyone just stands still, until Krennic loses his shit and organises defences. Deathtroopers are also amazing.
Both leads were not bad, but underwhelming, Cassian in particular.

This isn't nothing. It's one thing to be okay with it, but to pretend it's not there and the producers didn't try hard to be politically trendy, inclusive and progressive is just being dumb, and not even noticing it at all is being incredibly obtuse.
