>In terms of content and meaningfulness, Terrence Malick's Song to Song is the cinematic equivalent of a Trump press conference.
Joe McGovern, Entertainment Weekly
>It pains me to say it, but Malick might want to consider another lengthy hiatus.
Peter Debruge, Variety
>Suffice to say that Song to Song is not designed to win back onetime admirers who felt Malick's To the Wonder and Knight of Cups drowned in their own navels.
John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter

The visual narrative is the most important aspect.
Quality cinematography isn't just empty pretty pictures but actually telling the story using visual narrative through framing and composition and the performances.
So the context is important, you can't judge it by a screenshot alone.
>hack critics hating on Malick because its trendy
>Malick critics feel the need to shoehorn in a shitty Trump reference in their review when its completely out of place
Not gonna lie, former Malick fan here. This is fucking hilarious watching Terry crash and burn. But in all seriousness we can't let this guy make any more films.

>All because an auteur made it, it deserves a free pass.
>There's no spectrum of quality.
>When an auteur makes it, it's an instant 10
You know how stupid you people sound?
Not going to lie, former Malick fan here. It's hilarious watching him crash and burn, but in all seriousness we can't let this hack get his hands another film camera.
