I believe them because they sound exactly like the shortcuts and forced moments D&D would do.

They wanted Sansa to be involved in the main story so they made get to to Winterfell, get raped, go to Jon, lie and ride in with the Vale. Doing so required giving her Jeyne Poole's role, Theon's lines, Jon's ideas, Jon's revenge (making Ramsay mostly her enemy cause rape instead of Jon's enemy over having fArya) and making Littlefinger seem like he operates on her schedule even with his own plan (sansafags now genuinely attribute the Vale rescue that Sansa didn't gather, didn't convince Robin to send, and just accepted a previous offer to get, to her and not Littlefinger). So I can see them wanting to make Littlefinger a family thing where either Arya is given a role she shouldn't have or Sansa is given a part she shouldn't have.

And D&D would jump at the chance to make things less complicated for Jon just as they do for other characters. What better way of skipping angst and uncertainty and discussion than by just making Jon legitimate through absolute bullshit and records of it? They were willing to ignore how Jon should feel and react to being dead and resurrected so they could get on with Sansa's revenge, they were willing to make the North accept Jon as King despite being a bastard, being a deserter, and bringing Wildlings they've warred with for thousands of years, and they all believe his the Others are coming message, so why not this too?
