See if we're getting into the rhetoric of the "non-binary" movement you can't use the tidy "gender is separate from sex" argument because these people want to be perceived entirely separate from biology. Like they intend to fully dispense with language separating bodies with penises from bodies with pussies. This is basically the bottom of the rabbit hole because when you start talking this way it completely unravels concepts of sexuality such as hetero or homo, and also manages to contradict the concept of most transsexuals as well. People who define their sexualities in terms of preference between XX and XY chromosomes and corresponding physical properties cannot coexist conceptually with people who believe all language regarding sex and biology is a construct to be cast aside.
