Truly this movie is the pinnacle of action-kino.
>tfw no deaf cutie to fight against.
It was truly suffering knowing that she was going to get killed. When the blade went through her hand I gasped and my friends looked at me funny.
>>80303296
Not really. I wrote this same review when it came out but all of these smooth operator movies with older actors are just power fantasies for nu-males lacking in masculinity. And when you take away the action scenes, which are well choreographed, there's really nothing of substance here
It reminded me a lot of the Raid 2 (which I loved). The amount of action, the universe being fleshed out a bit more, even the cliffhanger ending. The hall of mirrors scene was amazing
>>80303493
She didn't die.
>>80303587
>when you take away the action scenes, which are well choreographed, there's really nothing of substance here
Where's the logic in that argument?
>>80303493
>They tried to make this bitch more imposing than Common.
>>80303663
The Raid 2 has less action scenes and is boring.
Fishburne just being a king of beggars meme character annoyed me. I thought he was gonna have a bigger role.
>>80303756
Well after the intro, you've got like half an hour where there's no action. That half hour fucking sucks. That's like a 1/4/ of the film where I'm just there bored out of my mind. It also failed at building on the world in a believable way. Felt like the directors just threw things in because they thought it would be cool rather then it making scene.
>>80303906
you're boring and you smell like shit
Wick and Common's character stealthy shooting at eachother during the chase in the subway station among the crowd, that was neatly done
>>80303710
Wut? She was bleeding out on the floor when we last see her. Unless you're saying "durr she was still alive and expired only after the movie ended"
>>80304097
They did say through hand gestures that they will see eachother.Common also had a knife that Wick put in the aorta vain, or whatever it's called, letting him live unless it's pulled out.
Both will most likely return for Chapter 3
>>80304643
He pulled it out of her you dumb shit.
I haven't seen it cause I was told it sucked compared to the first one. True/false?
I really liked this movie, but I don't usually get into this genre. What are some other films that are like this?
>>80306833
John Wick (2014)
>>80306986
Of coarse, by what else?
>>80304643
i was assuming that "ill see you soon" or whatever she gestured was about seeing him in hell. like hes going to die soon
>>80307024
the raid redemption
>>80307024
The Man from nowhere.
I feel like the guys that made John Wick were probably partly inspired by it.
The ending was almost the best part.
tfw u fucked up real bad
>>80303296
>deaf
John Wick 1+2 are the only actionkinos since Drive.
Stunning cinematography desu.
>>80306833
The Man from UNCLE movie is similar. Not as much action but still.
>>80307428
What about Dredd?
>>80307454
It's nothing like John Wick, except for male main characters
>>80307461
Almost forgot that one, was gud. Not up to the same kino standards though.
>>80303587
IS there a reason behind NĂ¼-Males wanting to see action films with older actors ?
>>80307501
Its stylized pulp kino with larger than life agent dudes.
It's not Time Crisis like John Wick though , but aside from that similar.
>>80307609
When you put it like that, yeah, but one is a spy action comedy, while the other is a bloody action gunfu movie
>>80307591
Because the youngest action stars are Gerard Butler, Dwayne Johnson Channing Tatum, Mark Wahlberg.
Hollywood thinks they can just make an action star, its hard. Charisma, gravitas, credibility.
I guess Hemsworth and Cavill could be, but they'll be fed up with it when their contracts are done.
>>80307740
Hemsworth and Cavil don't have the charisma or the gravitas to pull it off. Neither one could carry a successful action franchise. Hollywood is hard pressed to come up with anyone who can. The reason these movies do so well is because people are starving for good action flicks, so anything even resembling one does extraordinarily well. Hence movies like Taken and John Wick. However failure to understand why these movies are successful leads to shit like Beyond(or is it Among?) the Tombstones and the Equilizer.
A beautiful movie, looking forward to 3rd one.
I hope Carie Ann Moss is that one
>>80307991
>carie ann moss looks like THIS!?
is David Patrick Kelly in the second one? he was my favorite character in the first, running as a professional cleaner
>>80307856
Hemsworth has potential because of his comedic chops. Under the right director he can surely pull off a charismatic performance quite well.
Cavill was okay in The Man from Uncle. Didn't blow my mind or anything, but serviceable.
>>80303296
Why didn't shoot em up get as much praise?
John Wick 2 was trash.
John Wick 1 however, is fucking awesome.
They spilt the beans by having the bad guy in the first one be more evil than in the second one.
It's hard to be do something more evil (in a movie) than killing a dog. You had an emotional connection to Wick in the first that you don't have in the second, and while it's funnier, has more action and great scenes, like the multiple one on one with the assassins, the metro chase/fight, the hall of mirror, it just feels empty to me
>>80309379
>this thing got popular so I have to hate it and like the original
ebin
>>80303493
I need to see her nude.
>>80307856
A walk among the tombstones was a solid detective thriller. People went in expecting Taken, when it was something else entirely.
>>80307740
Dwayne johnson is action hero material
>>80309515
John Wick 2 isn't even that popular man
>>80303851
No?
She was destroyed in 5 seconds.
Looks like this movie flopped. They needed $200M, and we couldn't give it to him.
>>80306833
kill zone 2 is essential, no relation to the first
john woo has six essential films:
a better tomorrow
a better tomorrow ii
the killer
bullet in the head
hard boiled
face/off
watch all of those
also watch:
universal soldier regeneration
universal soldier day of reckoning
donnie yen has some great action films:
spl / kill zone
flash point
special id
a lot of michael mann movies are operatorcore but don't go in expecting out and out action films:
thief
heat
collateral
miami vice
public enemies
blackhat
haywire is a good one
keanu directed his own excellent martial arts film in man of tai chi
also some johnnie to films:
exiled
the mission
vengeance
>>80309595
This a 100%
>>80309793
John Wick 1 was 20m and made 88m
I don't think John Wick 2 was more than like 60m, and if so 146m is fine, it's only been a month, not even counting stream/bluray money
>>80309793
>>80309976
it did great
>>80303493
>she'll never grope you ass
>>80310139
Nice to see.
I don't get the why movies cost 200m nowadays and hollyjews gets upset and call it the worst year etc.
Do they really expect every shitty generic blockbuster they make to generate 500-600m worldwide
>>80309254
I once saw him kill three men in a bar, with a carrot. With a fucking... carrot.
>>80303296
I haven't seen the first one, but want to watch this to understand these threads. Can I skip the first one or should I just watch both? I'm lazy.
>>80309566
lol
>>80310347
She's cute anon cute!
>>80310313
The first one is better. The second not so much. Just more of the same.
>>80309566
It'll ruin the illusion for you. She's got shitty tats everywhere. The suit covers it up which is why she looks so hot in this movie.
>>80310313
Literally called john wick CHAPTER 2
you should watch the first anyway, it's one of the best english language action movies in fucking years and one of the few english language films whose choreography I feel matches the best of directors like john woo and johnnie to
>>80310371
Fire up your Netflix machine and find her episodes on Orange is the New Black
>>80310313
You can skip the first one, but I don't really see why you would. Just pick two days and watch a movie per day. They're not that long.
>>80310386
>>80310428
I'll watch both then, thanks lads
>>80310452
I mean they're fucking action movies, how bad is your attention span? It's not like we're telling you to watch every kieslowski film
