i meant it in a bad way.
At least in my country, people bash Kubrick movies for being "cult" shit, that kept me from ever watching them, but by the end, it was a pretty good movie.
>>
>>80299610

i don't watch pussy weeb shit but judging by the others here ya done fucked up

amazing movie though, the elite pedophile stuff was very truthful, albeit masterfully hidden by Kubrick

What was it that made Kubrick so fucking based? We havent seen anything else like him yet. He's like the Beethoven of kino.

Start with this. It's long, but comprehensive.
>>
>>80299713
In my country they bash anyone who even knows what Evangelion is, let alone actually watches that neckbeard crap.
>>
How the fuck do you get past your teenages without watching a clockwork orange?
>>

A whole country of megaplebs? Is such a thing possible?
>>
eyes wide shut was fucking garbage

>guy goes to party
>jelousy between wife and man
>man gets invited to secret cuck party
>mingles around cuck party
>they find him out
>someone dies off screen
>tom cruise gets followed for the last 30 minutes
>has ambigious conversation with ziegler
>his wife finds out about the whole ordeal the end

shit movie where barely anything interesting happens. Only good scene is the cuck party due to the really well done and creepy atmosphere. Everything else drags HARD. Admit it, the movie is only a vehicle for kubrick to show off cool cinematography during a masquerade party.

Nah, you're just a pleb

Part of what makes the movie so great is how intense it is despite the not-so-intense plot

nah it's a great reflection of the ambiguous line between sexual fantasy and reality being blurred for a married couple and the performances are stellar

uhh i think its implied someone put the mask on the bed

or maybe she found it? I dunno, ambiguity in the ending didn't make up for the slog that was every scene besides the party
>>
so its implied this is the same woman as the one who OD'd at the beginning? Same name but completely different tits which are throwing me off
(spoilering for obvious reasons, its a picture at the mansion party)

>"evangelion" of movies

What?

Evangelion IS a movie, god there's so many things wrong with that statement christ
>>
>>80299968
im sorry but there was NOTHING interesting outside the party. The pot scene was laughable, the being-followed scene was slightly tense but dragged, and the ending with Ziegler was just ambiguous "what really happened? we'll never know" garbage.
>>
Kubrick is entry level.

Kubricks masterpiece is Barry Lyndon, his most popular stuff is fairly hit or miss, Full Metal Jacket is two movies squashed together, 2001: A Space Odyssey is some weird Freemansonry jerkfest, A Clockwork Orange is some commentary on how neo-fascism becomes communism but it's all very confused adaptations of decent books.

See Kubrick biggest problem is he had no grasp of pacing, dialogue, or shooting a moving scene. Everything he did is a beautiful painting, which is not what cinema is.

There is a technical aspect to crafting a good film, and then there is a very subjective aspect of what you find visually pleasing.

I find Kubrik to be a poor mans Tarkovsky, without any of the pain or pathos the Russian people felt and feel today, because let's face it their loss is unique in human history, matched only by the Chinese under Mao.

If you like Barry Lyndon, you will like any Kubrick movie, so watch that next to determine if you're doing to dump the time into watching everything he did.

Eyes Wide Shut did not come out like he wanted it. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were the most powerful acting couple in Hollywood at the time, Kubrick usually works with unknowns, it was a bad match, they would not take good direction, so it's a muddled puzzle piece
>>80299877
as this guy points out accurately.

If you liked it, watch some Roman Polansky movies, Frantic and The Ninth Gate.
>>
>>80300054
its obviously the woman who OD'd. Why else would a random person sacrifice themselves for cruise's character?
>>
>>80299610
ITS THE DBZ OF MOVIES
>>
>>80300096
different tits tho
>>
>>80300093
Y'know, Kubrick does come off as a guy who had good ideas but his brain was just jumping around too fast and often he'd come off as amatuer.

Not even kidding, I swear there are parts in Eyes Wide Shut when audio actually cuts early or late sometimes. Seriously watch it with headphones.
>>
>>80299610
It's the End of Evangelion of Kubrick movies.
>>
>>80300093
>Kubrick usually works with unknowns
Was Nicholson still an unknown in the Shining? Im bad with my movie history
>>
>>80300121
well yeah I think that was kubrick being lolambigious

kind of like how Ziegler and redcloak were implied to be the same person despite different stature and voices
>>
>>80299610

>no gf anime watcher

you can't appreciate this movie. it's not for you.
>>
>>80300179
yeah his knocking of the balls and even chalk was offputting
>>
>>80300181
but i watched it, and liked it.
Why couldn't i? Are you part of some elite i'm not aware about?
>>
>>80300172
no, and please don't respond to this b8
>>
Is anime the Evangelion of visual media?
>>
>>80300179
I didn't thought they were the same person though, Ziegler is also fatter than the Red Cloak.
>>
>>80300195
yup, and the area he moves around is kind of like a big pool table with that red felt floor. Ziegler's pool table is also red felt.

I'm the guy in this thread who thinks this movie is overrated but in all honesty, stuff like that is kinda cool. Kubrick certainly has a neat way of tying thing together at times.
>>
>>80300239
its implied because muh red pool table keeps knocking the balls like his staff during ritual
>>
>>80300239
its HEAVILY implied through the parallel of where they are and what they're doing in the cult room/billiards room respectively

and he was wearing a big cloak, that can make someone look a little bigger than usual

but even if it was an entirely different actor, which it probably was, in the context of the movie they were implied to be the same person
