Tyler Perry's a pretty smart businessman. He saw an underserved demographic and catered to them. Since there isn't much in the way of competitors, he's not forced to spend craploads of money and time trying to outdo other folks. He just makes movies for them, and they give him lots of money.

This kind of stuff isn't that hard to do. Just look at religious films. If you were a talented Mormon, and you devoted all your energy to making movies catering to Mormons, like a PG comedy of errors when a girl brings a suitor to family home evening for the first time, then you'd probably be super famous and popular among Mormons and get a nice, fat bank account.

His movies are better than anything DC makes, so who cares.
