PDL basically serves as a reminder that while PTA often surrounds himself with talented actors, it's his direction that puts them above and beyond what they could achieve otherwise.

His acting wasn't particularly better in this than his other movies. The movie itself was just better. I'd say Funny People is his best acting, but it's all pretty much a wash.
