Introduce Three Storylines

>Internal political strife, following the headstrong daughter of some noble on a world about to fall into civil war over heresy. Comes upon an ancient macguffin and is our window into the aristocratic grimdark that structures coming events

>An Imperial Guard regiment on board a massive fleet inbound for the planet. Follow them with all the band of brothers treatment 40k fans demand, while showing naval officers, the AdMech, and the eyes of veterans that know they're not going to leave the planet they're heading to. This is our main plot thread and the context in which most of Warhammer's feeling will be established on screen.

>An Inquisitorial Retinue, separate from the fleet, that is whispered about fearfully from planetside. Main window into the implications of /scale/ in the world building. Point is to establish the Inquisitor as a terrible person deserving of hate, who crushes freedom and murders/tortures innocents. Have him entirely vindicated in his actions by the end.

You really only need one good battle scene, though I'm pretty sure it would work far better as a large budget series. Most of the heavily lifting would be on costume and set design. Don't need more enemies than Chaos Cultists until daemons at climax. Don't need to show Space Marines until /maybe/ climax. Don't need to talk about Primarchs or Eldar or any of the more high fantasy parts except strategically. Main thrusts are emphasizing scale and hopelessness.

Have every planetside character (every one) save the Inquisitor and maybe one character die.

If not for gross incompetence 40k could genuinely be one of the most valuable IPs in its competitive circle.
