Finally seeing the Weyland Corporation weaponize the Xenomorphs could be interesting to see and it would be something DIFFERENT. Irrelevance from who, a bunch of knuckle-draggers who couldn't appreciate an alien that was sophisticated, exotic and foreign. The very embodiment of the concept of 'alien'? Yeah, it performed poorly, mostly because it came out in the era of Alf and E.T., audiences weren't ready for a scary alien menace.

But fuck Cameron for appealing to the lowest common denominator by turning the aliens into hissy, incompetent space bugs. Bugs that couldn't even kill a little girl over a period of WEEKS. How am I supposed to be fearful of the alien equivalent to the thieves from Home Alone?

And don't even get me started on the 'climax', an over the top, noisy robot fight that would make Micheal Bay blush.

It really wasn't. His scenes are just more memorable and it's warping your impression of the movie. Learn how to into screenwriting. Shaw is the first character we meet. The only character who has flashbacks. David is the one who keeps interfering with her mission and trying to do her harm. She'd certainly be back in the sequel if the movie hadn't completely fallen apart.
