Yes, GiTS: Innocence doesn't have the payoff that GiTS 1995 has. It merely teases us that the AI fused Major is out there somewhere, doing whatever it is a post-human life form does.

But it does raise questions about man's future in regards to robots and AI. Unlike humans, dolls don't age. Dolls can remain perfect forever provided you maintain them. What would happen if you created a doll (with an AI) that could be your wife? Daughter? Maid? And what if that AI wife gains sentience? These questions are not answered in the film, nor are they explicitly asked, but they are questions worth poring over. We are getting closer and closer to virtual reality day by day.

I find Oshii's movies to be full of hot air with no major points. The animation is nice, the mechanical designs are amazing. But i don't think he brings anything new, or does anything new with the material or ideas he is discussing. He points at topics, plays with the idea, and then leaves them for something else. The opening starts off in a hospital scene where there's some people talking to her after what looks to be some sort of accident. The doctor explains to her that there was a terrorist attack and two shady dudes behind a one-way mirror discuss using her for some shit.

The 'shelling' sequence starts then and then there's a one-year timeskip before showing off the geisha raid sequence. Major gets backchatter on her coms and Aramaki cracks wise about keeping damages to a minimum or he's taking out of her pay.

Kuze shows up here for the first time, controlling the geisha gynoids, but he doesn't yet meet up with the major. She blasts the geishas and the last one mocks her identity before getting gunned the fuck up. Batou strolls in late as fuck after giving reassurrances and Major dives from the window. She entered within. (not sure why she needed to do that after she neutralised all the threats.)

After that is a clip montage of several unconnected scenes, one of which has major looking startled after Kuze Reveals himself and lowering her gun.

It seems to me just as much of a cop-out as the live action tekken movie so far. There wasn't much that really seemed authentic.

Tekken is a fighting game franchise about tournaments and the mishima family.

As a surface explanation, you can say the live-action movie fit the description of this and they went through the efforts of even getting some of the actors to look like the characters, so when you learn shit like how they got fucking Lateef Crowder to play as Eddy, (if you know who that is and understand the importance) it would seem to be something that excites fan interest as it's done as a nod to the fans.... despite the film otherwise doing a fucking garbage job of following any of the source material with any form of integrity.

She's a decent pick for the character actually, even the hair looks pretty good. that skintight suit really does fit poorly though. I don't know why they chose to feature it so prominently in the trailers
