Everyone on here loves to fight about the MCU and the DCEU but both of them are shit. The MCU is the same bland quipshit over and over again, the DCEU tried to copy Nolan's tone and when that failed they decided to quip their shit up. Fox's X-Men cinematic universe is the only capeshit cinematic universe that ever takes genuine risks.
>>
>>80129397
no it's not, Logan its a good movie in a garbage company

Singer's X-Men films are more fun than all of the MCU flicks.

Logan is more emotional and gritty than Snyder's DCEU flicks.

Deadpool is edgier and more fun than Suicide Squad.

I never thought I would say this but Fox is the king of capeshit right now.
>>
>>80129397
I literally only like Xavier and Wolverine. Well Magneto's cool too.

Those performances alone are the only reason I go back to those movies.

Logan is as good if not better than any other capeshit movie tho.
>>
>>80129397
Loli films are so kino. Why do we get so few of them?

>Fox's X-Men cinematic universe is the only capeshit cinematic universe that ever takes genuine risks.

/tv/ is so contrarian that they actually believe this nonsense.
>>
>>80129519
Logan isn't the only good X-Men movie though. X-Men, X-2, First Class and Days of Future Past are all great. The Last Stand and Origins Wolverine are absolutely terrible but I would rather a franchise have ups and downs than be nothing but forgettable middle of the road junk.
>>
>>80129649
>X-2, First Class and Days of Future Past

>Any of this
>Good or memorable

Kek. You said it yourself, these are "forgettable middle of the road junk".
>>
>>80129632
Logan is the first time we've ever gotten a gritty, R-rated superhero movie that stars a massive comic book icon. Deadpool is the first time we've ever gotten an R-rated superhero comedy. Legion is the first time we've ever gotten a surrealistic superhero TV show.

How many times do we have to say the film was made by FOX? Disney wouldn't bribe critics to praise their competition, you fucking idiot.
>>
>>80129632
It's not an incorrect observation.

MCU is a straight B-Line formula.

Fox is all over the place in quality, and when it's good. It's really good.
>>
>>80129397

Honestly yes. I love how they've continued the story too, even following what seemed like a reboot (First Class). Logan is a great stand-alone movie but having seen all of them I was way more invested in Wolverine and especially Professor X. I'd say they've done a far better job of getting me invested in a universe and its characters, the MCU films feel like separate entities floating independent of each other for the most part. When they do try and carry things over (Iron Man PTSD) it falls flat.
>>
it is but only because logan is so good and the rest of capeshit is so shit

I have been saying this for years. Yeah X3 and origins are weak but overall the franchise is so much better than the competition. Look at pic related, no Robert Downy quip scene can compare to the heart the Xmen have.

The DCEU hasn't had any heights, Iron Man 1 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are the only memorable MCU movies.

Logan >>> the DCEU and the MCU

To be fair Batman Begins was a risk, as was Antman, Iron Man and Dr. Strange.

Also Guardians of the Galaxy. I think both the DCEU and the MCU have made plenty of dice-rolls that paid dividends, and while neither production company has a discernible style, audiences seem to like it.

GotG is probably the only movie WITH style that was also good.
>>
>>80130096
Looks like a couple of fags about to aggressively make out with each other.
>>
The reason Logan worked was because it was an isolated story with very little connection to the rest of the movies.

Same with The Dark Knight.

It's when capeshit starts writing specifically to incorporate future movies and their Cinematic Universe that it goes to shit.

Fox made better individual films in the comic book cinematic universe battle but DC wins outright when it comes to comic book films in terms of quality. A History of Violence, Road to Perdition, The Dark Knight, and Batman Returns are just as good as comic book films as Logan. MCU are just in the stage of producers baby steps in filmmaking.

why are little girls so fucking scary?

her and the girl from the original Let the right one in geniunely scared me

Not including F4 movies, Fox are way more inconsistent than Disney's Marvel. I wouldn't rate any of the Marvel produced ones under 5 out of 10 At least they're better than Post-Nolan DC movies.

For what's trying to be it works perfectly well. Faithful enough to how the character is in the comics.

Just my opinion though
>>
>>80131014
Yes. It was a good movie

Exactly, I can't see them taking big risks like with Logan. Guardians was their biggest risk so far in terms of people not liking the property

Batman Begins was not a risk. After Batman and Robin DC was already in the works on the next film. It just happened to go to Nolan eventually.

>Antman, Iron Man and Dr. Strange
The only one of these you could possibly consider a risk is Iron Man because Marvel Studios had not established itself as the big company it is today, and they were pretty much in a make or break situation (Remember that Marvel were selling all their licensing rights because they were fucked financially). After their huge success anything they made was practically guaranteed to make money.

Ant Man was a total risk, Dr. Strange less so because of star power and and and established success rate.

Iron man though, I agree, somebody had to have some balls to even attempt to pull that off. Even as a DC fan I can just sit back and admit "holy shit you pulled it off".
>>
>>80129397

Not really... Logan and Deadpool are great. X2 and first class where good too but the rest is utter trash. The thing about Logan and Deapool is that they just can't pull that kind of shit off with every character.
>>
>>80132325
Not really.

Marvel Studios could literally film heroes doing their laundry for two hours and people will pay to see it. They could take the most obscure characters they could find and people will pay to see it. At this point there is no risk in taking an established character and adding it to their MCU lineup. That is one of the brilliant things about the concept of the "cinematic universe" which they pretty much pioneered, and DC is so desperate to emulate.

Ant Man was a terrible film, in my opinion, but it managed to sell a lot of tickets in spite of its quality. Marvel Studios knows this. Even the worst of the MCU films do not bomb. Also, it had a production budget of $120 million; I would hardly think Marvel Studios would bet that on a "risk".
