I won't. Capaldi has had same number of shit episodes as the other nuWho Doctors.
>>
>>80056913
I can't think of any iconic moments or twists from Capaldi's era. I guess the reveal of the Master was pretty big? Other than that I can barely remember any big moments from Capaldi's era. It's all a blur of mediocrity.

I think Capaldi will go down like Davison. He's a good Doctor but his episodes are bland.
>>
>>80056913
If they'd made him slightly less callous in his first series and then gradually mellowed him out over four or five series, without him losing his alienness or intensity, I think even normies would rank him alongside Tom Baker and David Tennant, even if his stories weren't as good.

The show got boring and awful in terms of writing, I remember Kill the Moon being especially divisive on /who/ because of the forced allegory and shit writing. >Why would River even want to leave the Library's virtual afterlife? She's immortal and happy there and can even interact with the real world for some reason.
More to the point, in Name of the Doctor it's implied that the ghost will eventually fade away, and then we even see it happen (the only reason she hadn't passed on beforehand was because she hadn't been able to say goodbye to the doctor). That's meant to be it.

Moffat milked two endings out of this plotline because it allowed for them, but there is no catharsis or resolution involved in going back and saying 'lol i undid her entire death'. Anyone who thinks this will happen might be retarded.

Steven "Everybody Lives" Moffat everyone:

>Jenny (the Doctor's "daughter"): Died then resurrected on Moffat's orders. Moffat's never brought her back and no one ever will.
>River: "Died" then went to a virtual afterlife with her friends and can, at least temporarily, communicate and physically interact with the real world.
>Dorium: Decapitated but somehow still alive and happy living headless.
>Strax: Died then resurrected by the Doctor.
No explanation given.
>Amy and Rory: Died of old age in their late 80s. Tragic.
>Clara: Will die at a point in the future of her choosing which she can prolong for the rest of the age of the universe. In fact she can prolong it indefinitely because SHE'S AN IMMORTAL WITH A TIME MACHINE.
>Nardole: Decapitated but somehow still alive, then given a new identical body by the Doctor.
>Ashildr: Died then resurrected with a microchip. Billions of years old by the end of the universe then gets rescued and becomes the copilot of a time machine, meaning she can theoretically live forever.

These are just examples off the top out my head. I'm sure there's more.

You guys are just circlejerking. Nardole being the Watcher is more likely than this. For fuck's sake, River and the Doctor both accepted her death in NOTD. Even if he did bring her back she again would just be like "wtf, let me die already you prick."
>>
>>80062239
>Moffat didn't write this, and wasn't show runner then.

True, but Moffat asked RTD to resurrect the character because he had plans to use her in his series.
>>
>>80062342
Not strictly true. Moffat suggested resurrecting her because it'd leave the door open, and because not every character has to die. He never ever had plans to bring her back, but this way the option would always be there.
>>
>>80062342
Didn't he say something like he wasn't serious and was surprised when RTD actually did it?

>>
>>80062815
>Lots of writers on lots of shows do it.
It must be good then. And most of those writers actually bother to do something with the character after resurrecting them.
>>
>>80062902
Not entirely sure what the problem is, desu. Jenny being dead or alive after that story doesn't impact on anything beyond that story. It's not like the Doctor would've moped around mourning her for the next few episodes (cos as far as he knows, she is dead and he didn't mourn her much). The story was shit either way, and the character's status at the end of it doesn't matter either way.
>>
Maybe she will show up on Big Finish eventually.
>>
>>80062963
Shit characters need to stay dead with no chance of returning.
>>
>>80062902
Lady Christina got a magic flying bus, and they never revisited her or that idea.

Jenny got to regenerate/come back to life and got her own rocket, and they never revisited her.

Like, regardless of what we think - shit or otherwise - they're both just examples of open ended plots, and there's nothing wrong with either.

I'm sure BF will use Jenny eventually, or she'll show up in a comic one day.
>>
>>80062999
Trips confirm. Is she a stay at home mother or something cause I haven't seen her in anything since?
>>
>>80063033
But that's impossible in this show anyway. Even if she'd stayed dead in that episode, if a writer later down the line wanted to bring her back, they'd have resurrected her. That could still happen, in BF or a comic or something. Her being alive at the end of the episode just saves them an extra few scenes/lines of dialogue cos it's already set up for a revisit
>>
>>80063033
>I don't understand how basic story-telling works,
>>
The true benefit to Jenny having died instead is that we don't have to deal with all the fans that won't shut up about her.
>>
>>80063043
Lady Christina isn't the Doctor's daughter/clone/whatever. No one cares about her. Jenny keeps getting brought up at conventions.
>>
>>80063033
Shit is subjective, soz

Plus, the show at that point had all the Time Lords dead. So it makes sense for them to leave it open ended with a Time Lord-esque character 'related' to the Doctor to be zipping around.

>>80063118

>>80063187
Jenny being left alive doesn't mean she therefore has to come back either m8

I mean, why not just kill off every character once their episode is over? Oh yeah, cos other writers might want to use them in the future. The same happened with Jenny.
>>
>>80063182
>Various dead characters are still repeatedly brought up cos some fans want to see them back.

True, not to this extent

I don't know who you think "they" is here, but if you're talking about the people who bet, no, they lost their money, because the bet was that she would win the Presidency, not that she would win a plurality of the popular vote. And if you're talking about the people who set the odds, then again, no, because the odds are set by a simple formula based on the bets coming in, and nothing else.

If you're looking to find a run you want to follow, start with Eye of the Scorpion, Marion Conspiracy, Harvest, and Storm Warning, and whichever one you like best, the next few with the same Doctor and companions are good (except Harvest; a few of the early Seven/Ace/Hex ones are a bit sketchy).

>>
>>80066922
Yup, that's me. I managed to relate it to Kant's definition of beauty ie. something well played, well acted, well realised is beauty. I thought Heaven Sent fit that perfectly, since Peter's the only actor in it but carries the whole episode by himself, the writing is the best it's been on Nu Who and Talalay's work is beautiful. I also added a but about Gold's music and how it knew to use silence properly to let scenes breathe. That way, the episode was a work of art because all of its aspects were polished to the extreme and it made it unique, something Kant also said. Dunno if it'll work though.

So we all agree that Chibnall is probably bullshitting when he says he hasn't even started working on Doctor Who right? He was appointed in January of 2016 his writers room has apparently been story boarding series 11 and 12.

Broadchurch is now airing hes basically done his job. Any final bits of post will probably be handled by ITV.

Chibnall and BBC aren't stupid. All these little interviews with Chibnall are being released by the BBC when they want them to. All building up to the big reveal of the 13th doctor probably sometime between now and the Series 10 premiiere on April 15. I refuse to believe that he hasn't started work on WHO or thought about casting.

>AMY: Because the travelling is starting to feel like running away.
>DOCTOR: That's not what it is.
>AMY: Oh, come on. Look at you, four days in a lounge and you go crazy.
>DOCTOR: I'm not running away. But this is one corner of one country in one continent on one planet that's a corner of a galaxy that's a corner of a universe that is forever growing and shrinking and creating and destroying and never remaining the same for a single millisecond. And there is so much, so much to see, Amy. Because it goes so fast. I'm not running away from things, I am running to them before they flare and fade forever.

What writers room? Back in May 2016, Chibnall called the Guild to ask whether there was a way he could set up an American-style writers room, and he hadn't followed up by the time Bernie Corbett's term as Guild General Secretary ended, and that's the last actual news anyone has about a writers room. Nobody has been hired. There haven't even been any rumours from "unnamed sources" on GB or in the Sun or the Mirror. Just wishful thinking by someone who keeps posting it on /who/.

I'm pretty sure BBC Physical Audio, after purchasing AudioGO, have exclusive rights to license audio adaptations of BBC Books, so BF can only do Virgin books.

So presumably that means Dying Days. Or maybe they're doing Benny novels again and it's Beige Planet Mars or even Big Hunt?

Honestly, I didn't think Cold Fusion worked nearly as well in audio form as in novel form, and I think the same would be true of most of his books. He writes pretty differently for each medium (which is probably a good thing).

What might be kind of cool, though, is if they could adapt Miranda, including the issues he never got to write because he can't figure out who owns the copyright on the images ever since the publisher guy fell off the planet.
