Then watch the teatherical movie and OVA called The Series : Beginning, it has nice callback and tells the story before S1. Then you should watch S2 to S3, then two movies tie the things up.

I always, ALWAYS, skip the last season or last 30 minutes of movies which I enjoy a lot.

It's the journey that matters.
