My Hitchcock knowledge is weak anon. Vertigo is the only one I've seen by him so far, and I got to see it in theaters because the Alamo Drafthouse was showing it. It was so incredible to see it on the big screen; it left a huge impression on me and is one of my favorites to this day.

I was debating subbing it with Mulholland Drive though.

If all you know is standard Hollywood dreck watching a Tarantino movie could get you interested in exploitation and other weird shit from decades past. Not the worst movies I've seen, but the ones I hate the most

I'd say about 5 times a year, I guess, but most are to take my kid brother

Well forgive my assumptions, but when someone puts Dear White People as one of their most disliked films of all time it immediately strikes me as "current year" memeing and not true reflection.

Fair enough, that movie was just one that stuck out as particularly bad to me.

Not really, I just find character driven movies more interesting than plot driven ones, specially if they present the main character falling as a person.
Among my favourite films I also have Barry Lyndon, Raging Bull, Lawrence Of Arabia, Citizen Kane...

First Hobbit film (because it burned me out on how bad it was; never watched the others)
Meet the Spartans
Paranormal Activity. All of them. I was made to watch every single one when I was at a party.

I don't go to the cinema because very few new films interest me.

It's not great, but really? One of the most disliked?
>>
>>79956198
Have you not noticed this thread is more or less preference. Take me for example
>>79956043

I am well aware there are worse films than the first Hobbit film, but for me personally, having grown up with the books then enjoyed the LOTR movies, watching that piece of excrement was for me the same as watching your daughter do pornography.
>>
>>79956198
To be honest I've seen much worse films, but I can't remember being as frustrated while watching a movie as much as I was during Interstellar. I just couldn't stand it, even if it was competently made from a technical stand point.

I feel like people either love or hate Nolan's movies. Personally I lean towards hate. Every single line of dialogue feels scripty as fuck and it might be sacrilege, but I find Hans Zimmer's scores to be about as bland as a film score can be

Yeah but in your post you explained yourself, I did the same in mine. Me following up with people is more asking them why they hated something so much.

Cause for me personally.........I love this film.
>>
>>79956350
I agree with you that Nolan needs to stop writing his movies and that the dialogue is cheesy as fuck, but I did love the score.

That score gave me goosebumps man.

The fact that you grew up in an era where practical effects were old news, and CGI began to- and then took over every faucet of special effects, really shows there

Even assuming everything else about the movie would be shit, would still make it amazing for what it managed to do with what was available at the time, especially because most of the special effects and tricks used to create those visuals were invented for that film.
If for nothing else, you have to learn to appreciate it for pushing the boundaries of what is possible with a camera and a couple of men with a vision and the cunning to figure out how to make it real.

I grew up in the transition between 2d and 3d games bro, graphics don't mean shit to me.
Throw graphics out the window and what do you have?
A whole lot of nothingness with sprinkles of pretentious subversive modern "art".
>Still falling for the out of commission shill that is abstract expressionism
>>
>>79958652
It's not about the "graphics" it's about the expertise required to achieve them.

Do you genuinely not understand why the amount of craftsmanship that went into creating the illusions of anti-gravity deserves respect?

Do I respect the starvin marvin who hand crafted my shoes?
Or the flying squirrels who assembled my phone?
No; I care about the performance, comfort, durability, cost and/or aesthetic of the shoe; about what it's like when I put it on my foot.

I assume that these should not be movies that everyone agree are awful or stuff that don't appeal to me because of the genre or subject matter, but dislikes that are uniquely mine, shit that expected to enjoy but were huge letdowns. I love to hate Lost in Translation and Waking Life. Can't decide on the third one.
