The Saulnier influence was clear. Though it wasn't as good as Blue Ruin or Green Room it was an impressive directorial debut.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. The two main characters were strangely likable and the theme of "people are assholes" was strong throughout. Instead of ending on a downer, the characters experience some sort of universal karma that makes their struggle worthwhile. I don't know, maybe you were too hyped up before seeing it.
