I have a 65 inch 4k tv that is currently unhooked and sitting off to the side because it doesn't have a single use right now.

Seriously I had my PC hooked up to it for a few months but I never wanted to use it because how bad it looks right now. At the rate we are going it still five years off in my opinion, I hope I'm wrong because its the biggest waste of money I ever spent.

I played mostly just games, I had a bunch of 4k movies and they looked like dogshit. Mostly action stuff that should highlight how good 4k looked but it didn't, like John Wick, Deadpool, Bourne, I also picked up Labyrinth because Bowie, and all of them garbage.

I have no clue, we might have just found a ceiling to resolution.

I will admit GTA V looked dope, but that is about it.

Do you remember a time before hd tvs? I do, it took years for HD to set in, you might not believe it but hd was around since the mid 90s. And we didnt see mainstream introduction wasn't till at least more than 10 years later.

I just got an OLED LG tv and it's absolutely perfect in every way. It upscales lower resolution content almost seamlessly.

Honestly the best use for 4K / HDR is for watching older film movies that have been scanned at 4K. There are a huge amount of 65 / 70mm films that are begging for UHD releases.


Also, not wanting 4K due to it looking too sharp or exposing flaws due to the clarity is the most retarded thing I've ever heard on /tv/. You feet draggers are the reason 1080p HD took 20 fucking years to fully catch on.

There is no point in still limiting yourself to 24FPS and having to blur frames together in a sad attempt and smooth motion. Since most films aren't made in the future I have hardly a care for 60fps and I don't think it matters.

I'm still using CRT TVs and only watch movies in 1080p on my 14" laptop.
There are still a LOT (especially older) people who don't even have HD yet.

But HDR in The Hobbit was really nice.
