It would be cool if they'd release third remake of Funny Games the first one was in 1997 second 2007 and now in 2017
Who would you cast?
I'd say Paul Dano and Jake Gyllenhaal

Daft Punk

Would it be cool for any particular reason, or just because of the even intervals?

I feel most of the concepts used in the original are now very much diluted in our abrasively revisionistic/thematic-infussion-focused state of affairs
>>
Even the first remake was redundant.
>>

you clearly didn't understand Michael Haneke's goal.
>>
>>79779723
Was it to make a redundant movie?
>>
>>79779748
it was to make fun of hollywood's moviemaking, to fuck with hollywood in general. Haneke hates this shit

Cool. Then you're agreeing with me that the first remake was redundant, albeit intentionally so. Not sure why you even bothered to object to my first post then, though. Maybe just to be a pompous cunt.

it was necessary
it was needed
just to show it

How does that saying go? Ironic shitposting is still shitposting

Not gonna happen. There is not much to go against this time. 1997 was made to counter german family films that features lots of strangers while 2007 counters Hollywoods obsession with remakes, sequels, reboots, prequels, and general resurgence of the violence in the horror genre

bravo lad

I like how it's become conventional wisdom among Haneke fans that the remake was intended to "make fun" of remakes. There's nothing you can point at to actually substantiate this autistic headcanon, but I guess you need it in order to justify the movie's existence.

Haneke himself has pretty clearly stated that he only did it because Funny Games was originally meant to be an "American" movie anyway and that he didn't like how the German-language version had never actually reached its intended American mainstream audience. But I guess you understand his motivations better than he does.
