Is there a scene more cringey than this in the history of television?

How can someone unironically watch this and think Breaking Bad is the greatest TV show ever made?

Yes I can agree, simply because they didn't pick a better knife party song like Power glove and didn't have a race instead of revving their engines in place.
>>
>>79683743
it's really bad though. Breaking Bad is still king of TV shows tho.
>>
I will never understand anyone who thinks this scene was meant to be cool.

The entire dynamic is that Walt is a fucking loser trying to use his money to make his son think he is cool.

This plays into the larger dynamic of Walt being a fucking loser who is using this foray into the drug trade to try and make himself feel like a cool man. Do you think they accidentally picked a fucking pork pie hat for him to wear? That the scenes featured here showing an old man driving up in a new gaudy car right next to his son's over the top sports car are done completely seriously?

The entire fucking point of the scene is that it's cringe. It's to show that Walt is a fucking loser. It's to show he has become detached from reality in order to use his drug money to impress his son because no matter how much money he makes he still can't figure out how to make his son or family actually respect him.
>>
>>79683854

Too bad that the show forgets that later on and falls for its own bullshit of "Walt the bad ass"

This is a Walter acting like Heisenberg moment

> Sells his regular car for cheap to buy a dream car

> Buys off him son with his own car

> Finally can spend his drug money on himself

> Blows off Skyler on her look normal apperance

> Gets away with it because Hanks says that this car is a nice treat for Walt has gone through (before Hank finds out Walt is Heisenberg).

Now that was a real shitshow. Ive read some arguments about it being a metaphor. But i dont buy spending a whole episode on that excuse.

Its the worst filler episode ive ever seen in a tv show. I managed to remember how bad it was despite seeing it while going through 3 episodes a day. I cant imagine how annoying it was for people watching it during the time the series was being released.

Walt is not a badass in the way of going to crazy parties and slingin' 8. He would never chill with his real niggas Skinny Pete and Combo.

Walt is a badass in the Clint Eastwood sense. He's a badass because he has balls of fucking vibranium.

It's a man in his 50s buying expensive cars for himself and his son who has cerebral palsy.

>>79684750
>symbolism

No it's not. You're just as bad as the other faggots.

Marie steals and lies because she needs to concoct a fantasy life in order to escape conflict at home. That's it. There's no grand symbolism or metaphors. It's a woman losing her self-control and grip on reality.

There were plenty of bad moments, especially in season 5. Intentionally taking a scene out of context and interpreting it in the exact opposite way that it was meant to be interpreted doesn't mean it's a bad scene, it means you're being retarded intentionally or unintentionally.

I like the show, but that scene is just bad. If it was meant to be ironic, it failed hard, because the show was never ironic (characters were, but never the writer or director).
The creators can't expect the viewers to get the irony on a scene that isn't explicitly ironic, on a show that was never ironic.

That scene was made to get the same effect as "le say my name" and "I am the one who knocks xD".

Theres a difference between being a badass beause of your power/influence (the kind of actual badass Walt does become in the drug world at times) and being the kind of cool father that gets respect for his son.

This scene is there to show that even while Walt is getting respect and recognition in the criminal world, he does not command respect from his son and family. And so he goes for the short term cringe approach of buying "bad ass" cars, completely out of his character as a father. Its contrast. This is an underlying theme for the entire series.. anyone who thinks theres a mismatch between the "say my name"-scene and Walt being a loser at home doesnt get it.

It's an awful scene, but The Sopranos, The Wire and Twin Peaks also had some pretty awful moments too.

Why is BrBa better than GoT again? I've literally never read an explanation. Meanwhile I could extol many virtues of technical film making and story telling that GoT does better than BrBa. GoT is fantasy yet the character motivations make more sense and are more strikingly real than BrBa. Nevermind the fact that BrBa's writing was obviously severely compromised by factors external to the show at several points.

And I suppose Jesse's friends terrible acting was meant to be cringe too? The problem with the it was cringe on purpose arguement is you can't point to all the cringe-worthy shit in the show and rationalize it. That scene was cringe in the same sense the skinny pete was a terrible actor with horrible dialogue.

I'll never understand why people like this shit more than Hannibal.

I liked it.
It made sense for the character. At this point in his arch he was starting to get a little too carried away and went from having a midlife chrisis to starting down his self destructive spiral.

Amazing (but pornographic) first season that devolves into a shitty action movie by the third. I am so tired of these high schoolers who say this show is deep.

Actually a lot fans tried to be all deep and intellectual and sucked vince giigans cock when he would constantly shit all over Walt so they regurgitated his nonsense to sound smart.
Some of the dumb critics would express all this outrage over Walt while unironically defending other tv characters who were just as bad. Same with a lot of dumb internet commenters. Because that's what Vince told you to do and you cannot think for yourself.
Mike was objectively as bad as Walt but he 'le badass' Tarantino tier garbage character and he was a 'cupcake teddy beat softie' so all the murders were okay, including the attempted murder of Jessie, who Walt saved from mike and gus, which fucked up Walts decent standing with them and put a death sentence on him, something that overweight old faggot mike conveniently forgets as he 'bonds' with Jessie

Jessie was a a good person until Walt ruined his life, he never wanted to harm anyone
If Walt never asked him to cook meth, he would've just been a harmless druggie and dealer. A bad profession, but he would've been better off.

>If Walt never asked him to cook meth, he would've just been a harmless druggie and dealer. A bad profession, but he would've been better off.
Nonsense Jessie got into shit all on his own he was too much of a dishonest pussy to admit so. Its pathetic how VG keeps trying to shove his "muh hard life" "muh crying redemption" down our throats when hes almost as big a piece of shit as Walt with some of the things he did. Like he loved to act all high and migthy about the nigger kid after he got his mother back on drugs or when he encouraged his other gf to relapse etc.
Contray to popular belief VG having a character cry doesnt mean hes redeemed or a better person than Walt.

Had nothing to do with it. they made that episode because they had already gone over budget with some other episodes that year.
>>
>>79684296
First season was the only season that was great despite resorting to degeneracy (nudity)
Season 2 saw a major attitude shift from Vince when he suddenly got a major stick up his ass about Walt and out of nowhere by episode 5 of season 2 walt goes super dark and by 10 he's a huge dick, or so Vince wants us to feel. I can see why we're supposed to think those things, but it wasn't natural in the getting there, so I don't get mad or annoyed with Walt but some people pretend to to sound smart.

I wouldn't give two a pass. Only season one was that good.

Walt blackmailed him in the pilot. However after the first cook went so bad they went their separate ways. And the. Walt had no leverage over Jessie because Jessie had witnessed Walts actions and Walt had more to lose if anything.
Remember Jessie came back to Walt in episode four asking him to cook again. Walt was initially reluctant.
True Walt fucked up by letting die but in season 3 he saved Jessie's life which fucked up his standing with Gus and Mike. Gus was going to kill Walt ( and hank) it was only a matter of when.

Jessie fanboys can fuck off. They only love him because he reminds them of them. Bunch of losers.
Jessie out his parents through a lot of shit with his drug use. I think his dad could have been more open and rncouraging after he got out of rehab in season 3 but that doesn't excuse any of Jessie's actions, like trying to fucking sell meth and dangling it In front of recovering addicts faces.
