I finished the season for the 3rd time last night and am dealing with some powerful emotions today, with the failure of the American industrial force on Nicky Sobotka's shoulders. I have to know it will be okay.

Also, I was very upset that Nicky showed up in season 5 for two minutes, looking 10x more attractive and fit. Given his situation and prospects at the end of season 2, I was expecting him to look a lot fucking worse. In season 2 he looked like Nicky Sobotka. In season 5 he looked like an actor.

The problem is most of them grow up with parents that did the same shit, only back then there were plenty of hours and labor to go around.

Now there isn't, but you have a whole generation of sons who want to be their dad. Only thing is, their dad made a living in a way they can't anymore.

Most of these people were the ones growing up who said "I don't want to learn anything I just want to work." That's a really common thing in the Deep South, the problem is there is no "just work" to go around anymore and many of the older people (40-50) can't understand why they've lost so many opportunities for work.

That entirely depends on your definition of rich. What do you consider rich? A million on the bank? Ten million? Dozens of millions spread out over multiple bank accounts and in real estate?
Because having a million in your savings is relatively achievable. With the right kind of work (surgeon, lawyer, specialised craftsmanship like underwater welding or pretty much every high responsibility job) or investments you can make quite a bit of bank. Or just think about all the talented musicians who are discovered, score a #1 hit and earn millions. There is definitely social mobility, but it's not easy. If you have the brains, discipline, and motivation, you can definitely become rich.
