Before TDKR came out, I thought the twist they would do on the Bane character, famous for being "The man who broke the Bat", would be that rather than Bane literally breaking Batman's back, he would instead make Batman so angry that Batman gives Bane a fatal blow and then rips of his mask. Bane starts gasping and then laughing maniacally, whispering "I ... broke ... you" to Batman with his last words, causing Batman extreme pain.
