It isn't tho. Spy or heist movies have lots of plot and tend to not say anything of substance. Tinker Tailer Soldier spy for instance, or Rififi maybe have twists and turns but don't offer much in the way of subtext.

Kek, no 95% of their best movies of all time, which is literally just a French circle-jerk. It's only coincidence every time Goddard or the like released a movie he received the number 1 spot?

I bet, even though you have seen some of them the only word you could use to describe them are others words you had to read after viewing said movie. I mean look at you, why should I watch Vertigo? Convince me, in your own words. Trust me, I will be able to tell what are yours and what aren't your words, it's simply not coincidence everyone's main comments about these critically acclaimed movies are everyone else. I am looking for you own subjective reasoning as you why you like it, and why I should see it.

I will be waiting. Watching movies doesn't make you patrician.

there's a lot of american films in their top 100, if thats what you're talking about

>It's only coincidence every time Goddard or the like released a movie he received the number 1 spot?
what the fuck are you talking about

>I bet, even though you have seen some of them the only word you could use to describe them are others words you had to read after viewing said movie
are you implying i religiously read reviews of the films i watch or that i religiously read cahiers du cinema? because its neither senpai desu

>convince me to watch vertigo
I said watch vertigo because i thought you said you had seen 95% of the films of the new wave faggots, which now you said you haven't, when i mentioned cahiers in the first post, i meant 1950's-1960's cahiers, where those new wave directors came from, you mean the new cahiers du cinema and the 2008 list they compiled, now, given that you hadn't even heard of jacques rivette, ill say, don't watch vertigo since its probably too much of a movie for you, pleb shit

depends on what you're looking for. if you're looking for an ethereal meditation on love, relationships, doubt and faith, by all means. if you can't get beyond a minimalistic plot or dont care for malick, or at least dont care for him when hes not tackling ""big"" ideas, don't bother, you'll probably hate it.

Francisca is probably the best by Oliveira but I'm personally also quite partial to Amor de perdicao, although that one is more 'traditional', Francisca is just very unusual for him, his most 'experimental' in a way.

I'm running low on shots from Twilight to pick but I try to make my grids either thematically or with corresponding images for fun but nobody ever notices so the stills i pick here for instance are diametrically related, I guess the ones with the pictures in the background are the most obvious
this one was about art in films and hands
